Always reliable, I find that Hung Tao has gotten even better recently, in particular the roast duck that hangs in the window and the crispy belly of pork which really has a crunchy crispy skin and juicy meat underneath. And the soup dumplings with pork and prawn are some of the best I have tasted in London. Another personal favourite is the dry beef ho fun which comes out hot and steaming. Perfect comfort food!

There's nothing fancy schmancy here but it's the perfect, informal place to grab a quick meal with friendly and polite service (the staff have been here like forever and they have so many regulars). Just good basic cooking like you get in Hong Kong.

It does get busy at peak times and sometimes you have to queue but it's work it. Portions are really decent and certainly fill you up but I have yet to try everything on their long menu... maybe one day I'll get through it!

Hung Tao has been a fixture in Queensway for as long as anyone can recall. I find this tiny cafeteria style restaurant special in so many ways.

Where do I start ? Jason, the manager, has been there for years and is such a font of information and cordiality that he seems to be more like a welcoming relative - such a homely feel to this place, which is great especially in London!

There is the food which is so reminiscent of the quick noodle houses in the Far East - the dry wonton noodles (remember to ask for some chillies) are succulent and moorish, indeed.

The braised beef and rice are firm favourites, as are the roast meats. But, the biggest open secret to those in the know is the tender, extremely tasty pork chop, which is beyond comparison with any others served in London.

This, I'm told, is the specialty of the head chef - and yes, although it looks like they only have a spartan quick meal service area on the main floor, there's actually a full working kitchen downstairs, where the head chef comes up with such wonderful dishes.

I'm a third generation "eater" at this restaurant and I intend to pass on the tradition to my children soon. Wonderful food and service, Jason and company!

In a kind of sad way, I see Huan Tao as a second home. Not that I sleep at Huan Tao or anything – it’s just that I do spend quite a lot of time here. The food is good though – way better than my efforts, so it’s probably better health-wise for me anyway.
