I am mystified by some of the reviews. I have been going there regularly since it opened and it always delivers the typical Italian trattoria experience. Ida is a breath of fresh air as most Italian restaurants pander to an English version of Italian food. Their tagliatelle with ragu is the best in London. The wine list is well chosen especially the Sardinian red and white. I will keep coming back for more.

I agree with Fizzylennon, i don't know what these people are talking about. The food was delicious, there didn't seem to be any delay and the matre'd was very attentive and polite and i would definitely go again

The food was hit and miss, my main course was delicious but the dessert wasn't the best, still though the relaxed atmosphere, good prices and great service was enough to give this restaurant a deserving 5 stars!

Avoid at all costs.Went on Valentines. The atmosphere was about the only good thing about it, but that's the company not the restaurant.The female maitre'd (and self proclaimed restauranter apparently) was incredibly rude.The service was appalling and the food was so average you really could do much better at home.Both tables on either side of us complained about something and asked to order as it took so long to get anyone to take the order.Only the maitre'd could take the order, the other waitress was about as much use as a chocolate teapot.They were serving seared aubergine as a side dish-what came was a plate of stewed aubergine and cabbage! I let her know that this is not was it advertised on the menu and she said yes it is seared and the chef has been kind enough to add cabbage to the plate?!! What happened to the notion of the customer is always right?Crap-don't go.

A friend of mine and I had dinner at Ida's tonight and never again. We have been to the restaurant perhaps 3 times before and each time things have got worse.

The food is bland and of a very poor standard; the service verges on being non existent. The manner of the woman running the place is to say the least brusque and verging on being off hand and lacking in charm totally.

The cost for this awful dinner came to to just under a £100. An absolute waste of money. The lighting is so poor that it is near impossible to read the bill. After my friend struggled to examine the bill, he was given a cursory breakdown of the bill and then asked extremely rudely what he would like to pay, the bill without the service or with the service. Had it been me, I would have refused to pay a penny more than the actual bill, which was extremely steep considering the tasteless and badly presented food.

Overall, don't bother going to this overpriced, devoid of service, scruffy, scraggy dark delapidated restaurant with a short sighted owner who has no interest in pleasing her customers. Absolute disaster.

Beyond awful. Slow service, inept staff and shockingly bad food. We ended up having two dishes refunded and still we felt utterly ripped off by the this place. Go there if you want a long wait followed by disappointment . It's a real shame because the location and decor is great..shame it's let down by people that simple can't cook.

Went here yesterday (Monday) evening for my girlfriend's birthday. The restaurant itself is a very nice, quaint, family establishment. The food was very good. I really enjoyed the tomato stuffed with spinach and almonds and the pappardelle duck ragu and my girlfriend really enjoyed the stuffed courgettes. Excellent authentic Italian rustic fare.

Service was suitably good natured and friendly. My main gripe was about the slowness with which our order was taken and our food arrived. We had a table at 8pm but did not finish and pay for our 3 course meal until 10.45. On a monday evening with work the next day this was excessively long. Given that slowness I found the bill of very nearly £100 pretty high for 2 people with a £20 bottle of wine. This slowness was not unique to us as the couple on the next table had to enquire as to the whereabouts of their secondi plati due to concerns about needing to get home to relieve the babysitter.

I would happily enjoy Ida's food again but not at these prices and definitely not on a night where I had work the next day!

I've given the food a 0 rating but to be clearer, we had 5 meals that were ok. The 6th unfortunately, a Prawn Risotto, contained a taste that was extremely unpleasant.

It was abundantly clear, not only to the unlucky recipient of this plate, but also to the other 5 members of the table who all tasted the meal, that the prawns were old and borderline rotten. It was rankly replete with a rancid, dank, fishy, seawater taste. In the unanimous opinion of the table, it was wholly inedible.

As the other meals were fine and in the interests of providing constructive feedback to the restaurant we called the waitress over and explained the state of the dish. She politely apologised and removed the meal.

About 5 minutes later the owner arrived at the table and inexplicably came to the defence of his chef's rotten and disgusting fare. He stated again and again with an increasingly aggressive stare in his eyes that there was nothing wrong with the prawns and that they were as fresh as possible. All we could do, aside from look gobsmacked as to the personal way the owner was taking what we felt was a constructive rejection of an inedible dish, was point out that 6 out of 6 people disagreed with him.

After leaving us alone with not only a bad taste in our mouth but also a bad feeling as to how we had been treated by the establishment things took a bizarre turn for the worse.

The chef began glaring at us across the pass making us feel incredibly uncomfortable, then stormed outside for an argument with the owner, and then, to our absolute disbelief, passed to the owner, who then delivered to our table, a skewer of prawns in a last ditch attempt to prove to us that his prawns were the freshest in the land.

He couldn't have missed the point more if he had tried.

In summary, if you like your food rotten, your health put at risk and to be aggressively stood over by restaurant staff then this is the place for you. If not, avoid at all costs. We definitely will be.

As a local who is excited to see this space turn into something better than a kebab shop, I visited Ida last night for the first time.



The food I have to say was delicious as was the house wine which was also good value. However, the food was verging on the expensive given the size of the portions. I ordered a tagliatta di filleto at £12.50 and was presented with a tiny portion (it was delicious). Equally my dining companion ordered his main course of grilled skewered squid for the same price and received a starter sized portion.



The ambience however was relaxed, unpretentious and warm with cute decor. Either lower the prices or up the quantity and then Ida would definitely become a regular spot for the hungry local residents!
