We were recently staying in the St James area of London for 4 nights and discovered this wonderful hidden place (down a passageway where there is a noisy pub, an old world hat shop...) We took to it instantly and returned at the end of each day for a restorative meal in a welcoming but low key atmosphere. From the specials to the regular menu items, in four nights with four people, we probably tried most of the restaurant's offerings and were delighted with all of our choices. The owner was charming and his small staff extremely solicitous. We will go back and tell all of our friends staying in and around Pall Mall.

Great Italian food and service at (for the area) reasonable prices.

Off the beaten track means it may not be busy early in the week. Customers a mix of locals and tourists.

I’ve eaten at better restaurants than Il Vicolo, but I’ve also eaten at worse restaurants than Il Vicolo. So, I don’t know what my point is really.
