owite justin brown? i completely agree with you: it's a brilliant restaurant. i wholeheartedly recommend everyone from all four corners of the globe to go to there, even if it involves sailing the seven seas. the tandoori naan is more than half-decent, it's three-quarters decent (or even more than that, possibly seven-eigths, on a good day).

peace and love.

Yes, the India Club is charmingly eccentric, more shabby than chic but the food is awful! Maybe it was good a few decades ago and it's true that, by picking VERY carefully through the menu (avoid pepper baji - dead man's fingernails in too much rice flour and beans and coconut - frozen beans sprinkled with dessicated coconut), a just about OK meal can be constructed. Anyway, the India Club is historic with great photos from the Independence era, so enjoy it for that! Waiters rival the Wong Kee for rudeness but were all very amiable.

India Club is a cheapo Indian with wonky tables and crappy decor. The food is top notch though, and dead cheap and if you've got a problem with that you're mental.

This establishment is without question the best South Indian cuisine in London and the Home Counties.

Do not expect a lot of frills. What you will get for your money (and very little money, at that) is a wonderful atmosphere, impeccable service, a proprietor with great wisdom and humanity, and flavours that are out of this world. Don't stay in tonight - go to the India Club and then come back and tell me I'm wrong. Bon Appetit!
