Inshoku has some good points. Indeed, its menu is mostly quite authentically prepared without lapsing into modernist fusion cuisine or focusing on a few trendy parts of common Japanese cooking, but it does lack not only in atmosphere and in some of the sushi varieties, but occasionally also fails to deliver up to it's expectations.

Two things from my most recent visit, scallop sashimi which tasted off and made me a little sick later, and wasabi in the inarizushi, were a definite no no.

Inshoku is popular with the local community, but lacks some of the finesse of other Japanese restaurants to really be recommended as an introduction to Japanese cooking.

Inshoku is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants. The majority of clientele are Japanese, the staff are Japanese and every time I’ve been to Inshoku the food has been excellent and reasonably priced! Definitely recommended.

When we went to Inshoku I forgot that you can usually judge an ethnic restaurant by the ethnicity of the customers. I didn't pay attention to this adage when I should have. A Japanese restaurant without Japanese owners or customers should probably be avoided.

The service at Inshoku was poor and the food was way below average. The only redeeming feature of this restaurant was that it was cheap.

Inshoku is a friendly place but I'm not too sure about it being the best! Inshoku is a nice locals' and students' hang out really but personally I prefer Feng Sushi in London Bridge which is just two tube stations away.

Inshoku is the only sushi place I know that doesn't cram you in next to complete strangers, so it deserves a prize for that alone. The food at Inshoku is good too, but did I mention theres loads of room to eat as well? Oh, I did. Never mind.

Inshoku is simply the best Japanese restaurant I have eaten in, in London.

There is a varied menu containing hot noodle & terryaki dishes as well as sushi but it is the sushi that is truly excellent. The fish is always fresh and very good value for money, especially when ordering a platter to share with friends.

The service is excellent and always friendly. The only thing that slightly lets the place down is the seating. The canteen-style chairs don't encourage you to prolong your stay but that is one small criticism of an otherwise authentic and delicious Japanese night out.
