Superb.

One of the best starters that I have ever tasted - Smoked Duck Salad. Then a very reasonably priced 10oz steak that melted in my mouth. Dessert was an imaginatively presented apple crumble with a cider sorbet.

Fast service but I never felt hurried.

My Partner and I entered the restaurant on a very hot afternoon as we had just walked through Hyde Park; it looked cool and inviting. Entering through the large glass doors was very impressive. We waited in the reception area to be seated, no one arrived, so we walked up the stairs and waited for attention, we were ignored by a waitress who brushed past us completely ignoring our presence. Neither of us were inappropriately dressed, the waitress could have simply said “take a seat or choose a table” finally we just went a head and sat down.

Once seated the air conditioning was a welcome relief and the restaurant was nicely decorated with pea shoots instead of flowers, which were very charming. Drinks were offered within about 5 minutes of sitting, although the request for a ‘pint’ of Stella’ (or whatever lager) was not an option. Even though it was on the menu, unless, you had a pint of Ale no other ‘pints’ were available. My wine whilst I did have two glasses was fairly warm and whilst having two glasses also it was really not a great wine, I would not have paid more than £2.99 for a bottle of it in a large supermarket.Our order taken my partner and I both chose a ‘boneless’ chicken breast with a choice of different ‘marinades’. I sincerely doubt they were ever marinated in anything. We were warned it could take fifteen minutes to which neither of us did think needed a warning. I suspect the waiter may have said fifty or intended to say fifty. However after 50 minutes we were told it would be another five to six minutes. At this point we were offered bread, surely it would have been better to be offered this at the start?

We did not leave a tip as 12.5% was already added in, we did pay the full amount of just under £70 for two main courses and one dessert and a few drinks (neither of us had coffee) value for money, most defiantly not. All in all I would call your restaurant ‘red hat and no knickers’ meaning show and sadly no substance.
