moved to Sutton a few months ago and found this place, nice bar friendly staff and great cocktails, prices are bit high but i guess thats to keep the teens outs, nice to find a place you can chill also just found out they are starting a music solo singer act on Fridays think i might check it out, read other peoples comments about the ID thing not sure what everyone is worried about like i said probably another reason to keep the teens out, will be back JT.

Its a shame about this bar because inside the food and drinks are great but the manager is very rude and should go on a course on how to deal with the public.I for one will never be going back, there are so many better pubs in sutton with cheerful and happy staff.

I found the staff to be very informative about the id Scan. My brother works in Sutton and it turns out its not the bar and its got nothing to do with how old you look - it's the local police and the idea of scanning everybody applies to late night venues in the town. The only information that is not deleted off is apparently the people that have been barred and the idea that they are selling your details for marketing purposes is silly. They are covered by a disclaimer in plain sight that tells you exactly what may happen to your info. I think it is a small price to pay if the aim is to make Sutton a safer place to go on a night out. I find Ivory Lounge to be refreshing in Sutton. It's not full of chavvy little kids for a start, it's not expensive and its not pretentious. The food and cocktails were just as good as the Ivory Lounge I have been to in Bromley and the staff were very nice.

This is not a legal requirement so why don't they use a bit of common sense and as for the staff being very informative this could not be further from the truth when I visited the place

I agree with the comment about the so called security check. My wife and I wanted to go in for a drink, we are both in our mid fifty's and I make a habit of not taking ID out with me in case it gets stolen, when I asked why we were not allowed in the only answer I got was it was company policy. I don't think I look under 18 so I have no idea why we were not allowed in unless the managment have an underhand way of selling on your personal information. Needless to say I just laughed and went to a different pub. When I asked another security man at the Moon on the hill about their policy he could not believe what I was saying as we did not look under age and were not drunk and may cause trouble and was just glad we were spending our money in his pub. It's a shame it looks like a good place but the dubious practice/attitude of management will lose trade and in turn force it to close I won't be going back.

I have to agree with the last reviewer.
What a pity that a smartly designed venue for comfort and good times is overshadowed by the bad attitude and sullenness of this relatively new manager.
The staff, once seemingly just glad to be working there, now act like members of a chain-gang.
The atmosphere has packed his bags and gone to O'Neills for a permanent holiday I presume because the wall of unwelcome in this bar is palpable.
maybe the owners of these establishments put too much pressure on their managers to drag in the pound notes but there's no excuse for the customers to feel that pressure.
Its the managers job to make this The Place To Be with the staff happy in their jobs, casting their service skills and smiles to us the customers and guess what? - the money will flow in as a result and almost as an afterthought.
I suggest this manager lightens up or becomes a traffic warden sometime soon so the atmosphere, fun and light relief a bar should offer shines again.

Beware, this club illegally scans and stores your personal data without the staff having any clue about the Data Protection Act 1998 and guidelines issued by the Information Commissioner regarding the scanning of customer ID. Despite what the security and management staff claim, this system is voluntary and only in place to discourage underage drinking. Customers are entitled to know why, where and for how long their personal data is stored. You should also be asked for permission if the premises intend to use it for marketing and promotional purposes (which they do without asking you first). The data should only be accessed by the registered data controller for the club, usually the manager However, the security staff stated they also have access to it. So beware girls when that creepy bouncer takes a shine to you and obtains your address from the ID scanning database! My advice is to avoid anywhere that insists on scanning and storing your personal information. They can check it by all means but not store it without having any protocols in place whatsoever. These systems are being managed and accessed by clueless idiots and access to the club is denied if you refuse to have your ID scanned. The club obviously doesn't understand the term 'voluntary'.

I love this place!! It's got really relaxing atmosphere, good service and lovely drinks (they also serve lovely smoothies). The food is nice-recommend the tapas.
The music is in the background which means you don't have to shout.
It's one of the advantages of living is sutton :)
