Although I don't this this place is too easily accessible by public transport, it is worth going to. The food is very tasty and the staff is very efficient. I definitely recommend it.
Wow! How unlucky was we? We arrived at the restaurant very excited as we had not not been there before. It's a lovely looking place, with fantastic decor. We asked if they had a table for two, the waiter said "yes, I will just put you there" he pointed to a seat by the window/door, the seat was a very hard, long, high bench, which is not nice if your short, my legs were swinging & did not meet with the floor, we asked if we could move and we were told they only had a small table for two, we looked at each other a little bewildered as there was only myself & my partner. So we proceeded to order, the waitress was not a happy one, she told us she was very busy & would be until midnight. While I proceeded to place my order I was expecting her to ask my partner what he would like but she didn't, instead she hovered over myself & looked at me for a response. So I placed the order, which I found very strange. Our starter came, I ordered the helium cheese, my partner the spicy sausage, well no frills here, along side was half a slice of tomato & just 3 salad leaves! Our main came quiet a long while later, which was a mixed grill for my partner & grilled chicken for myself. Again, no frills here, the mixed grill was a joke, consisting of a lamb chop, a very small chicken breast, an even smaller stake, which was the size of a £2 coin & 2 50 pence piece size kofte & sis kebabs. We asked if this was normal & was told yes, this is a mixed grill. Well in our eyes this was an absolute joke at £14! We then asked the waitress if we could have some napkins, she brought us back one & placed it beside myself-again forgetting I was there with my partner! The service was a joke, nobody came to ask if the food was ok, if we would like another drink or anything. This is not the level of service we are used to. The bill came to £52.00,( We had 1 glass of red wine each & a bottle of still water, with the above) the waiter then stood beside us until we paid the bill. How
I visited Iznik with my boyfriend last weekend and we absolutely loved it! We just came over for a short break and came across the place randomly – so glad we went inside! It’s completely gorgeous and so unique, you really feel like you’re somewhere exotic. We’ve never had Turkish food before, so didn’t really know where to begin, but everything just sounded so good! We went for the calamari and vine leaves to start off, they were so tasty. I had the pachanga (it’s like chopped up beef and peppers and cheese in breadcrumbs) which was such comfort food, it definitely warmed me up from the cold, and my boyfriend had the lamb shank which was just as good. Sooo worth a visit if you’re in the area, and really good value, highly recommended :)
Perhaps we were unlucky with the service. We went on a Saturday night and they were angry that we arrived 5 minutes early, then were very slow and careless about our orders. They food was good though and the prices reasonable, and the restaurant attrative.
I went to Iznik for the first time this weekend using the View London promotion. This is a lovely restaurant - as you walk in you are immediately struck by the authentic, beautiful interior. The decor is out of this world; there is an ornament in every nook and cranny and the colours are riveting.
We were eagerly anticipating our starters, hoping that they would be worthy of their surroundings. We were not disappointed! The filo pastry stuffed with feta cheese is the nicest I’ve had in London and the dolma was lovely. The taramasalata and tzatziki were also of a high standard.
My partner had the aubergine for her main course while I opted for the chicken shish. Both were delicious. We shared some baklava for dessert over Turkish coffee to end a wonderful meal.
The service was charming and the restaurant is very atmospheric. I’d have no hesitation recommending Iznik to anyone.
Iznik is an enchanting little eatery. This was my first trip to a Turkish restaurant and Iznik certainly opened my eyes. The food was sublime and the atmosphere and service even better.
The restaurant was very busy when we arrived yet we were still made to feel important and the staff were keen to help us novices with our orders. If you haven't tried Turkish food before I really do recommend trying it and Iznik seems to be an excellent place to start.
