Star rating & review concerns they're milkshakes only.....
Presentation very basic, tasted good but resembles something you'd buy in a bottle like ''Yazoo''. Volume wasn't great, we had it drunk within a couple of minutes. Price was okay, though it didn't feel like I got my money's worth.
Great breakfast, the sausages are to die for. Plenty of coffee top ups. Had a brownie after my breakfast and it was wonderful. Highly recommend this café. Nice, friendly staff too.
Fabulous food, atmosphere and staff. Could not find one fault with this gem. Endless coffee and tea top ups.. definitely 5 star food and service..
Well, most of the comments here bear little to no relevance to my own experience of this cafe. Perhaps, this is the crux of the issue; it's a cafe, the whole point is to have a bustling, lively atmosphere. The reason it is so 'crammed' at breakfast is because they are so good at making breakfast.
The choice is excellently varied, the eggs have always been cooked really well, the sausages are good and the tea and coffee is bottomless.
The staff have always been very welcoming and engaging, they obviously care about building good relationships with their regular customers.
What a lovely little restaurant this is. I thoroughly recommend the breakfasts here. I have been more times than I can remember because I cant get enough of the delicious sausages they serve. I have also tried several of their lunch time meals which are also great. The best thing about Jacks is the staff. They are such lovely people, that every time you go back there they remember you and provide you with great service.
Bear in mind that Jacks of Clapham Junction has different opening hours to Jacks of Bakerloo. Jacks at Clapham close at 5pm. Sometimes you have to wait for a table if its busy because the restaurant is quite small however it is definitely worth the wait.
Sorry to report a sharp decline in quality at Jacks - after noticing that our pancakes and maple syrup were in fact a fluffy tasteless batter and golden syrup we had a chat with the manager. He told us that in the current climate he can't afford to provide maple syrup and has downgraded his eggs from free range to battery - both items are falsely promised on the menu which he said "he hasn't had time to change". He said "most people don't notice". Oh well, goodness knows what he's serving up for meat products. Real shame.
We went there on a Sunday morning, big mistake, the palace was absolutely heaving.
We waited twenty minutes to be seated at which point five of us were put on a table for four. This resulted in annoying one of the waitresses who kept trying to pass food across our table to the one behind rather than walking round another table to serve them.
One of our number politely asked if she had been given a two egged portion of scrambled eggs, as stated on the menu, and was treated to a verbal tirade from the lumbering eastern European cook who insisted that she was being rude, maybe his grasp of English lead to his misunderstanding what she said, though it was more likely his being called on his stingy portions.
Mediocre food, a startling willingness to cram in as many customers as possible and surly, impolite staff. I’d rather get a McDonalds Breakfast.
Having Googled "cheap eats Clapham Junction" and stumbled quickly upon this review, my friends and I were eager to try Jacks out for a girly catch up eve.
We went there last night, arrived at 6.30pm to find it firmly shut. There is a notice on the door stating their new opening times which involve them closing at 4pm.
We were so disappointed and had to traipse off elsewhere. So perhaps call them before you go, just to make sure they will be ready to receive you.
