I have been to the Jakarta about four times now mostly with a group of 4-8 people.

Usually I have the set meal as it simplifies the problem of ordering. Its reasonably priced and I enjoy it.

Although I cannot explain why, a friend with an Indonesian wife was not very happy with the food and will not join me there any more. However there are many Indonesians who do go there regularly!

The food is quite nice but not exceptional and the service is adequate but again it could be rather better but then this is Colindale not Hampstead.

All in all a useful local place to go to from time to time but for a very special date I would probably choose somewhere else!

I have to admit, I eat at Jakarta way too much. This month alone I’ve had at least four meals there.
What can I say, I just like it at Jakarta.

This is an excellent place for a reasonably priced South Asian meal. The portions are good and the staff friendly. I recommend the Kuzy Ayam and coconut rice. Brilliant.

Jakarta is an excellent restaurant. The food is very good value. The flavours are great, the meat is of good quality and the presentation is nice too. The main dishes are a healthy size, I have been here a few times, it is overlooked because it is not in a glamorous location, overlook this restaurant at your peril. The food is as good as any Asian restaurant I've been to in London - some of which charge two or three times as much. Worth making a booking if you are going in the evening as it fills up quickly.

Jakarta is the best Indonesian food in London by a mile. Large portions (unlike most other Indonesian restaurants in Soho) and friendly staff. If you want authentic Indonesian and enjoy spicy food this is the place.
