aqua kyoto

Japanese aperitivo hour at aqua kyoto launches in style, offering an Eastern take on the classic Italian tradition at one of the capital’s best restaurants. The Japanese aperitivo hour at aqua kyoto will be available from Monday to Thursday evenings from 4pm-6pm, providing a really rather marvellous way to wind down after work or to kick start your evening. This brand new weekly event is also a good way to welcome the brand new executive head chef, too, as Paul Greening revitalises the aqua kyoto menu, showcasing his penchant for foraged ingredients.

Japanese Aperitivo Hour at aqua kyoto
The aperitivo hour is set to be pretty popular. Visitors to aqua kyoto are invited to order from a special selection of Japanese cocktails and beers on a set list (prices start from £5), to then be furnished with complimentary miniature versions of dishes adapted from the new main menu. So, it’s a cracking way to get a little taste or two of Paul Greening’s exciting new menu.

Drinks on the menu
Drinks available on the Japanese aperitivo menu include the Japanese Velvet, made with Nashi pear infused Ketel One vodka and shaken with pear puree, homemade lemongrass syrup, apple juice, lemon juice and sweetened with honey liquor; and the Ginger Collins, which includes fresh ginger mixed with Tanqueray Ten gin, lemon juice, ginger infused sugar syrup, elderflower cordial and lavender bitters topped with lemonade.

Dishes on the menu
The dishes on the menu change with seasonality but expect intriguing options such as tuna tataki with mizuna cress and tosazu jelly; crab and seaweed salad with tomato dashi bubble and ton buri; and yomogi tofu made in house with fresh Japanese mugwort. And with Paul Greening behind each dish, you can expect them to be seriously good.

Japanese Aperitivo Hour at aqua kyoto takes place from Monday to Thursday evenings from 4pm-6pm at aqua kyoto. For more information, please contact the venue direct.
