This restaurant, even though it advertises delivery, it does not actually deliver! Three of us ordered during lunchtime at work and waited 2 hours and nothing arrived. We tried calling, the phones were mysteriously disconnected.

Do not order from this place as it has bad service!!

I have been to this restaurant a few times now but was horrified by my visit on sunday, when one of the waiters came up to me and my boyfriend and told me "you need to keep your legs closed or sit somewhere else" after apparently catching a glimpse up my skirt for a split second as I was sitting down and he was walking up the stairs.

Needless to say I will not be going there again.

The one star is for the nice manager who apologised on the waiter's behalf, and their patties are quite nice too.

After 'loitering' outside Jerk City and Savannah Jerk for about 10 minutes trying to decide which one we should go to - Jerk City came out tops!

Mainly because my friends and I had read the online reviews and although a simple café look - it plugged the better food, healthy portions and jerk chicken just 'like your mamma made'.

If you want to try Caribbean for the first time - THIS is NOT the place to go to. The service was shoddy - and not one that we had with a smile. The girl serving was so dour-faced that I was too scared to even ask for an extra set of cutlery and side plate for us ( there were three of us and she came out with two sets).

The food arrived quite randomly - the jerk chicken wings were covered in barbeque sauce - not even a pinch of jerk seasoning in site. The fried fish starter was dry and chewy and covered in Encona pepper sauce - hmmmm, that's not how i make my fried fish.

And then to our dismay the jerk chicken main arrived - very healthy portion can't argue about that - but , completely covered in barbeque sauce. Where is the authentic seasoning that jerk is famous for?!?.

This was something that I wouldn't even buy as a microwave meal in tin foil - we were so disappointed. We then realised that an hour into our meal, we hadn't yet received the fried chicken and plantain that we'd ordered as starters.

So my friend went up to ask. Nothing was mentioned about the plantain but the girl swiftly brought over three pieces of chicken from the cabinet on the takeaway counter. We looked at it - tentatively tried a bit and left it.

It was cold and chewy and had more elasticity than an industrial rubber band. We soon left the cafe and went on to a coffee place for a comfy sofa and yummy desserts to wash away the taste of barbeque sauce and cold chicken. If you're a Caribbean food virgin, please don't go here as it will only paint a very poor picture of what real authentic

I can second that, I was very disappointed when mine and my boyfriend's food came out to see it looked almost identical - I had ordered stew chicken and he ordered jerk chicken. it looked like they had taken a few pieces of chicken and put a bit of gravy on mine and some BBQ sauce on his - not a hint of spice at all!

Plantain was very soggy and the rice and peas was more like rice and pea.

We came across this tiny cafe style resturant whilst walking down Oxford Street 2 years ago (some guy had one of those advert boards up). Normally we'd ingore this but we thought "Hey a West Indian resturant in the middle of Oxford Street, great", and Great it was. Mr Jerk is small and cosy and sometimes you have to wait for a table, but the food is lovely, fresh and hot and so cheap.

We have had the Jerk and Stewed chicken, rice and peas, and we have never been disapointed. The portions are a good size too. An average meal at Mr Jerk is about £7.00 per person and they do take away. I have never been to this place without it being packed, it draws in such a nice crowd and in the evenings you can bring your own wine (not sure if there is a corkage fee).

I have been to the West Indies and I love West Indian food and this is possibly one of the best places I've tried that does not cost too much. Mr Jerk is nothing fancy (not the place for a romantic meal and I can't imagine anyone having a large group meal here) but it's nice. My boyfriend has been here many times and he's been to the more expensive West Indian resturant a little further down the road, and he said this one wins hands down!
