Situated just off Oxford Street, Jerusalem offers a relaxed evening of food, drink and banter in comfortable surroundings.

The Venue
Jerusalem is located on Rathbone Street (nearer the Tottenham Court Road side of Oxford Street). Once you’re through the fort-esque double doors you’re greeted with grouped tables and a buzzing atmosphere that’s an amalgam of post-work drinkers, groups gearing up for a big night out and diners. There are tables across the venue but there is a special section for those dining away from the hubbub of the bar. There’s ample room within the venue and you’re also treated to an upstairs outside area with tables and benches where groups can hang out - weather permitting - still within ear drum distance of the tunes being pumped downstairs.

Generally, the bar offers Paris-meets-country pub style as the lavish curtains and materials hang near the wooden tables and chalked menu board.

The Atmosphere
There is definitely a sweet buzz about Jerusalem. From the moment you walk down the stairs into the venue you can hear the sound of the weekend. Look out for the Dress Up Booth where you can put on costumes such as '80s attire if the night is themed, or you simply want to add to the already jovial frolics going on around the bar.

The Food
Jerusalem boasts a comprehensive menu and the food is great value for money. The main part of your evening could quite easily be working your way through the menu.

Starters begin at a highly reasonable £3-£10 and are a good warm up for the mains. Chicken Caesar and breaded calamari are staple selections, but the Thai platter with king prawns, chicken satay, onion rings, vegetable tempura and homemade nachos is certainly the best choice.

Main courses fall in the £8-£9 range - again great value for money. Try the sirloin steak; top choice and definitely a very good steak. Although not adventurous, it certainly is very well prepared, tender and lies well with the various mustards and sauces that are provided. Another great choice is the jerk chicken served with plantain and coconut sauce, with an original and sweet taste that doesn’t take anything away from the succulent and delicately spiced chicken.

The desserts are particularly good. A warm sponge lying on a chocolate sauce or a divine cheesecake; both full in flavour and texture.

The Drink
Standard bottled beer and draughts are on offer, including Guinness, alongside cocktails and a standard wine list. If ordering with food, your waitress will recommend something to accompany your dish.

The Last Word
A cool venue with a welcoming glow, the Parisian salon look beckons you in to feast on a well-priced menu.
