The ViewLondon Review
Hip and cool as the country it comes from, the Danish Joe And The Juice is about to take London by storm.
The Venue
So hip it hurts, Joe And the Juice is the coolest new cafe in town. The first British branch of a Danish chain, the strong Scandinavian fashion sense is evident as soon as you set foot into the dark and atmospheric space in the quieter upper part of Regent Street. Spreading over the ground floor and a more private mezzanine, the decor is all about cool accents, from the wall decals to hip contemporary artwork to candles and lamps.
The Atmosphere
Joe And The Juice is the type of place where everything has lots of personality and the staff are no exception: expect to find uber-cool Scandinavians with extreme haircuts working here, wearing nerdy glasses, neon yellow trainers and bright pink baseball caps. Despite the nonconventional attire, everyone is very professional and informative.
The Food
If you’re feeling peckish, the sandwiches (£4.25 - £4.45) are made with their own homemade pesto and assembled on quality bread. You can pick from the healthy avocado with mozzarella, spicy tuna with jalapeno and Tabasco, turkey, Joe’s club (chicken, avocado, tomato) and more.
The Drink
Unsurprisingly, their specialty is freshly squeezed juice medleys (£3.85 - £4.05). Most mix three flavours to create a drink in which you can still distinguish the original components. There are plenty to choose from, like the Pick Me Up (raspberry, banana and apple), the Sex Me Up (passionfruit, apple and ginger) or the Hell of a Nerve, a sweet, thick smoothie made of strawberries, elderflower and banana. The Veggie Focus is a much thinner and less sweet mix of celery, carrot and apple. For something more adventurous, try the C-Shot Sweet, which mixes red bell pepper, apple and lemon or the Arth Away, with spinach, pineapple and apple.
Shakes (£3.85 - £4.05) include fruit blends like raspberry and banana as well as the more indulgent dark chocolate, espresso and even muesli and yogurt with a choice of fruit on top. The hot drinks are as good as the juice and just as popular. Joe’s latte is very good and you can customize its size and number of shots (£2.10 - £3.30). Espresso, double espresso, macchiato, cappuccino and hot chocolate are other good options (£1.55 - £2.50).
The Last Word
With healthy products, a designer look, cool customers, hip staff and even fashionable music, Joe and the Juice is sure to make a lasting impression.
