Horrible food, rude staff and it is expensive - avoid at all costs
I had meals at Joe's on 2 occassions and have to say the food is not well cooked. The burger was very dry and if anything burnt! Service was ok but I did see arrogance in the management. I have seen stopped going.
Thank you but customers have choice.
The last review was NOT my review. My party and I were thrown off our table by the manager. We sat at the table at 5:30. Sometime later the manager plopped a reserved slate for 7:30 and told we would have to move when that party arrived even though there were other open tables. The manager told us he was only letting woman sit outside. When the other party arrived at last, 45 min. late we were told to leave and forced off the table. Janice told me that this has happened to her and other friends. So if you go to Joe's remember, you are at the mercy of the manager who is setting up his own harem.
What a wonderful surprise I had tonight. Having been a customer of Joe's since 2001 to find that the new manager is a homophobic frenchman more intent on stocking the front patio with "woman who will bring in the guys", he is also happy to throw a group of people who had been there spending hundreds of pounds, off their table for a group of "women" who arrived 45 minutes late. When asked how this was possible he became became insulting and threatening, insinuating that the 2 gays present were causing alarm among the guests. He implied that their presence was not wanted and by the time they left, the ratio of woman to men outside was indeed 42-5.
I was invited to Joe's by the famous proprietor of the long standing Party Shop Circus Circus who has used Joes for many years. I was most surprised to read the adverse reviews knowing that my guest was a discerning lady.
My own experience was the complete opposite to the other reviews. I arrived early and was treated very well by bright smart and friendly people who made me most welcome.
When my guest arrived she was recognised by the staff and they took our orders for food and wine. I had the homemade fish cakes which were excellent, my partner had the brie, also excellent. We then had lamb cutlets with vegetables, this also was excellent.
Service was outstanding and all in all it was a first class experience. I am at a losos to understand the other reviews, and I shall most definitely go to this brasserie again, first class.
Disgusting food! My tuna steak was inedible, tasted off, my friend had cottage pie which was in a thin undercooked sauce like water, he sent it back and asked for it to be cooked longer, the waiter brought it back saying that it was perfectly cooked and they could do nothing about it. They treated us like troublemakers, forgot to bring us any bread and all in all the only decent thing I ate was the vanilla ice cream! Talk about a rip off!
Unfortunately I don't have the option to choose no stars for this restaurant. Do not go to this restaurant! My boyfriend thinks he got food poisoning for a week after eating here! Service is absolutely disgraceful. A rip off! They add a 'suggested' 12.5% service to your bill. We waited 1 hour 15 mins for food! We had to constantly approach waiting staff to serve us! Awful. Rating : 0 stars!
I just ate at Joe's and was very disappointed. The reason I went was because of Randall's lamb burger which was the best I had ever tasted. However, they no longer use Randall's meat (Randall is celeb butcher across the street) and the burger was underdone, of inferior meat and probably spiked with what has to be a lot of MSG producing the same kind of post meal reaction that a meal at McDonald's does. Disgusting! I won't return which is a shame since I live in the neighborhood and it was a good place for a while after Bentley's took it over.
