Two of us stopped by after shopping needing some good food and a nice experience. We both ordered different noodle dishes that looked nearly exactly the same served on cheap looking plates with no hint of flair whatsoever! We had some starters that were deep fried, the samosas looked freezer burnt on the edges, the noodle dishes were dry, dull and too spicy (probably to try add interest), the chicken in my noodle dish was weird and unrecongnisable! On the plus side the tap water and service were ok! What a waste of money!

went to jom makan hoping for a good malaysian food we were craving for. but we were utterly dissapointed with the taste or rather no taste at all of their so called malaysian food. we ordered a set of satay which was a bit stiff possibly been prepared for quite sometime, a char kuey teow and fried mee hoon . Both kuey teow and mee hoon were colourless and taste as bland as they looked. really not doing justice to the exotic taste of malaysian cooking.

with the same amount of money way better off with Melati Restaurant @ great windmill street, soho.

Last night I paid my first visit to the new Jom Makan Restaurant at Westfield. The interior is quite nice and the place was busy.

The staff were friendly but it seems they just have not been trained properly. Once we had made our choices and placed our order, we also ordered some wine.

The waitress knew nothing about wines, so the shift Manager came over and let us try one of them. The Argentinian wine was nice , so we ordered it. Then came our first course and still no drinks had been served. I asked twice and only then when we were well into the meal finally came the wine.

The bottle just dumped on the table with the glasses. No tasting or pouring by the staff at all. For main course we took three dishes to share. Never having had Malaysian food before we just ordered three of their "light" curries ...one salmon, one chicken and one prawn.

We had no idea exactly how hot and spicy these dishes were. Very nice yes, but far too hot. Our stomachs were turning by the end. After that we looked at the menu again for a lighter sweet.

Staff were around but did not seem terribly interested in serving us. In the end I had to beckon the Manager over to us. We tried to order some cheescake...there were three types on the menu.....but they had neither of them ...all sold out.

Not terribly good...so we had to take sorbet instead. We had coffee too ....again very slapdash...the Espresso was served in the usual small cup only with a saucer three times larger than it should be. What's more most of the time the owner of Jom Makan was there watching but did not seem to notice how lack the service is.

It is his responsibility to train them properly and should look at the impact that the slack service from the staff has on guests in his restaurant. The couple next to us were also complaining about not getting their drinks. All in all the place is nice and staff friendly, but sadly the staff lack tra
