This restaurant is as close as have come to the gateway to hell. Repulsive doesn't come close to describing how i feel about this restaurant. In the duration of my dining experience I witnessed 3 sets of customers leave having discussed the appalling quality of their food with the manager, one couple was so furious they refused to pay and threatened to stand at the top of the street warding away potential customers, and I soon found out why. I was given a main course immediately after my starter, which was clearly microwaved leftovers, along with soggy potatoes and rice. Words cannot describe the quality of this food, but to say the place should be shut down or burnt to the ground would be suitable. Horrendous, vomit inducing nightmare of a place. STAY CLEAR! I am canvassing every forum to make this known, I am convinced any positive reviews are that of the staff there because there is no way in hell anyone enjoyed the food here.
The servers at Kalamaras Taverna were miserable and had no idea how to treat customers. The head server didn't know what aperitif meant, but it didn't matter anyway because the only aperitif was Ouzo. The server taking the order didn't understand English, but worse than that, didn't know what the dishes were when she brought them to the table.
The food was totally unimaginative and had to be sent back as it was inedible. Kalamaras Taverna had no table service, so we had to pour our own wine. There was no welcome, no atmosphere, and no Greek music. If you want an enjoyable night out, saty away from this place. The score for this reestaurant on your scale should be less than 1 but there isn't a negative rating.
I have had two experiences of Kalamaras Tavernas. They were both very pleasant, especially the takeaway meal with my friends. There was plenty of food, even more than we actually ordered!
When we had dinner in Kalamaras Taverna the owner chatted with us and was helpful. So far it's the best Greek restaurant I have been to in London.
Of course, I will have to explore more but Kalamaras Taverna offers a refreshingly personal service!
Kalamaras Taverna is a lovely little Greek place. The owner is very friendly and the food is superb.
The best thing about Kalamaras Taverna is that it’s reasonably cheap – which is always good.
Kalamaras is a really cosy restaurant. The staff are friendly and very obliging. Our party had a few mixed starters, pork on the charcoal, keftedes and a tuna steak. All of the food was quick to come out and delicious. The meal at Kalamaras Taverna was rounded off with a Greek coffee and a couple of house brandies. I can't wait to go back.
