Such a contrast to whats outside of this venue! - this restaurant is stunning!

Great food,very welcoming service, great list of champagne!

A place for couples and family dinners.

Service was good if a little overbearing. The atmosphere was awful with cheese classics blaring out. Any semblance of romance was destroyed by the god awful music choices.

Unfortunately having recently been to Odette's in Primrose Hill I also found the food way overpriced. The Quail suffered from too much garlic and the papaya salad had no zing or spice to it (which such a dish is supposed to have).

The wine was at least reasonably priced and very tasty and the service was good.

I will not be going back to this restaurant.

Disappointing.

Wednesday 9/9/09.

I rarely write reviews on restaurants by felt compelled to write one on the Kapok Tree. The restaurant is toward the Whitechappel end of Brick Lane and has a much more contemporary feel that most of the other eateries in the road.

We were greeted by an immaculately dressed matre deand shown to a very spacious table for 6.For starters we had the Chefs Platter, which contained the best tasting lamb cutlets i've had in a long time.

I had the Thai Chicken Curry which also tasted superb. If you want to visit a classy restaurant in Brick Lane I thoroughly recommend the Kapok Tree
