If the hard sell is what you're after, then this is the place for you!
The bread is outstanding, but frankly everything else is mediocre and overpriced.
The management and staff I would liken to car salesmen - not what I would expect from a restaurant associated with a top class chef.
Our group was around 20 people. I ordered an expensive bottle of wine for the few friends with me and the manager proceeded to offer it down the table without consulting me. In front of everyone, he then called me from a distance when, sounding surprised, he said he was about to run out and suggested I order more.
Surprised by his manner, I agreed. The staff rush around pouring the wine out as quickly as possible so that more may be ordered.
Hidden charges on the bill were disputed after paying, but the manager was unapologetic and his manner is very poor, as was the response from Antony Worral Thompson himself when I complained.

I visited Kew Grill at the weekend and have to say I was very impressed. Food although a little on the pricey side was worth every penny. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very buzzy. All in all a great night out.

Very poor quality of food and very expensive for the ordinary standards offered. Staff not very interested in customers.

Starter, Prawn Cocktail - Small tasteless and dry prawns just out of the microwave, one quarter of one slice of brown bread!

Main, Beef Stroganoff - Uneatable, with horrible after taste, sent back!!

AWT - get out or improve it, the food at the Notting Grill was far better.

We went on a Saturday night, June 13. Service rather frantic - kept topping up water & wine and then immediately asked if we wanted more.

We felt as if we were just a money machine! The secret is to extract the money, but not to make you feel like it!!

The food was OK, nothing more. BUT it's very, very expensive.

Main courses do not include side orders and so if you add potatoes and veg, you're in the region of £25 which is plain ridiculous.

Yes, the meat is fine, but I have had better tasting sausages and bacon from our local butcher.

Had to ask 3 times for an extra portion of chips! In fairness they didn't charge for them, but by the time they eventually arrived the plates were virtually empty anyway.

We declined to pay the service charge and this was accepted without question.Overall it was most disappointing.

If AWT is going to trade on his name (no sign of him in the kitchen, natch!), he needs to back it up with top quality food and service and value.

There are far better restaurants locally. We won't be back.

Visted 14th Feb 09 for my Birthday and valentines day. Same time last year we went to The Grill in Windsor and what a experiance fantastic, So we thought we new what we was getting for our money.

Starter of Chickens liver & black pudding fantastic, I had potted shrimps no taste at all. I had minutes steak & skinny fries very nice Husband has mixed grill, again quality of meat great but portions were half the size of last year I mean half, half a tomatoe half a mushroom half a sausage come on ATW I know times are hard but the mix grill was the size of a kids meal and not joking.

We had desert again great tastes, to be honest we were still hungreywhen we left. Service was good for a busy night, asked for a G&T when it came very strong, could not drink it, bill came it was a double which we did not ask for,

We are all feeling the crunch and save a little here and there for a good night out with good food but very dissapointed in the portion sizes, was planning a private party in Windsor but will have to re think. what a shame big fan of the Grill but let down Mrs T Day

The Kew Grill restaurant serves abnormally excellent fare. This place prides itself on simple ingredients cooked in an uncomplicated fashion and it works a treat. The steak Diane is melt in the mouth stuff and you would have to go a very long way to beat it. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the service is very good.

The decor at Kew Grill is vibrant, as is this restaurant most nights of the week, but it still manages to keep a comfortable homely feel.

We went to Kew Grill on a Monday early expecting to eat in a near empty restaurant. Wrong - it was full by 8.30!

Food at Kew Grill was really great. Goats cheese starter, roast suckling pig, cheese board. The taste of the pork will spoil me for ever from eating supermarket meat again.

Altogether Kew Grill is a really good restaurant with food well cooked and full of flavour. The wine was very reasonable and good quality. The only reason it does not get a full 5 was that the service was a little off the mark that night although it did not affect us, or our enjoyment at all.

We went to the Kew grill after reading reviews on here about how good the steaks are. The restaurant is pleasant and comfortable and the waiter helpful. The chilli squid was not on offer and I was also looking forward to the suckling pig but they don't have it at lunch. So I thought I'd have the steak as it sounded very good.

It looked good but was ruined by the fact that the charcoal grill hadn't been cleaned and the meat tasted of burnt charcoal grease. This was a shame as meat that has been reared so carefully doesn't deserve such poor treatment.

The chips were fantastic, the salad was limp, and the wine excellent. But £116.00 for two courses was over the top for a very average meal. I won't be going to Kew Grill again.

We visited the Kew Grill on a Friday night and were pleased to have been fitted in at such short notice (as had booked late in the day).
The first thing we noticed was how spacious it felt for such a small space - diners are not packed on top of each other like in many restaurants!
The service was fantastic with both the manager and his team as helpful as could be and in possession of a sense of humour - something so often lacking these days!
The food was some of the best I have eaten in a restaurant for a long time - the steaks for which it is famed an absolute must that just melted in your mouth. Even the few chocs that came with coffee were delicious.
They always say you can judge a place by its toilets and these were immaculate - finished off nicely by the pictures that depict whether you are entering the ladies or gents.
We had a thoroughly lovely time and will be going again soon. The only reason for marking this 4 rather than 5 was that we felt the starters to be over priced (although delicious) for the quantity
The Kew Grill was wonderful and well worth a visit!!

Kew Grill is a restaurant in Kew Gardens. there's not much to say really. It's not like there's much competition so Kew Grill does well. Enough said.
