It is better not to visit Kikuchi in the first place. I had the same experience as the previous reviewer had written. Once we entered the restaurant, my colleagues and I were told the minimum charge is £25/pp and we have to vacate the table within 1hr 30min. Once we agreed to it, the lady in the restaurant immediately said there is no table to seat for three but at the counter although no one was in the restaurant and not all the tables were 'reserved'. We all felt that something is wrong with this restaurant and we decided to go to other restaurant. ...I should have read the review before coming here...

I had a totally nightmare experience with Kikuchi and my husband and I decided not to enter the restaurant. Firstly, once we entered the door, we were immediately told that all the tables are fully booked and only two places at the counter for 1hr and 30min. Obviously, there was several tables which didn't put the 'reserved' signs and no single customer was there. Still, when we said yes, the next question was the minimum charge is £25 per person. Apparently, the Kikuchi does not want to accept non-Japanese customer for some unknown reason. It is a shame that we went there only because my Japanese colleagues like its Japanese traditional pub-like atmosphere. If you don't want to get dissappointed even before reading the menu, you better avoid visiting the Kikuchi in the first place. Worst experience I have ever had in London restaurant.

I eat a lot of Japanese food, and have to say that Kikuchi is the best Japanese restaurant I have found in London. The food is excellent – especially the sashimi and miso soup.
Kikuchi is a must visit.
