Absolutely horrendous service, ordered a main dish and it came cold, they refused to heat it up or take it off the bill, so i paid for horrible cold food i could not even eat. Staff are rude, short, grumpy, and take ages to serve you. Horrible experience, i usually am pleased with most places i go to and it takes a lot to make me feel this angry about an experience. Would not recommend at all.

Dont normally write reviews but had an amazing meal at Kimchee so wanted to tell everyone about it.
From the time i entered, i felt like i was transported to Seoul. The ambience and food was delicious. We ordered lots but the stand out dishes for me had to be the Chicken Bulgogi and the Vegetable Tempura, both cooked just the way i like it.
LOved the drinks too, thought the cocktails were awesome! When we paid our bill we were given a small xmas card with 50% off to use in January which was a nice touch, will definitely be returning & telling all my friends!

As a korean I used to like 'Kimchi' but I went to Kimchee on 6th December with my friend and I had the most disgusting tofu soup ever.I could not believe it when I tried to taste the first time I could not taste anything, it was just water with tofu. The seafood soft tofu jjikea is very popular dish in Korea. I never taste that kind of disgusting dish in my life.So I asked a waiter to taste it then he took to the kitchen when I asked him he seems like he already knew about the problem. Another thing was he did not explain why the taste was shit and did not say sorry. When I had second soup it was same and I was getting upset as I recommended Kimchi to my friend so we went there for a lunch but she almost finished her meal and I had to wait for my third soup.I asked the manager to taste the soup and she admitted that the taste was too bad........However the manager's attitude was that it was just a joke, she did not seem she was really sorry for me at all.(When the manager was Kimchi in Golders green I went there once and I found hair in a dish it was my first bite. I said to her and she took to the kitchen and she said that all chef were short hair so it much be from my table. But if she was 100% sure why she gave us second dish? I was so upset with her attitude. )I could not enjoy my third as I was so upset with the food and their attitude. Also I orered a starter and it just came before my third soup.I wasted my time and money in Kimchi !I can not recommend to any of my Korean friends.

Went on Thursday evening (1st September) & had a great time. Quite surprised by the previous review as i thought the service was fantastic. Maybe it can be a little hit and miss sometimes due to the size of the restaurant.
However, drinks and food arrived promptly & the atmosphere was nicely buzzy even at 10pm. Portion sizes were good & i will definitely be visiting again soon! 4 out of 5 stars from me!

Very poor service:
Entered the restaurant at 9.50pm on(Fri 2 Sep )after reading on the outside board that closing time is 11.00pm. Member of staff refused to seat us informing that the restaurant closed on last orders at 10.00pm.
To my frustration a party of 4 were literally seated a few seconds prior and hadn’t placed their orders and it was 5 minutes before last orders.
As we were a party of 7 (Indians) who were in time of the stated last orders window and technically should have been served.
So by principle, I asked to speak to the manager. When I questioned him why we were refused to be seated, he stated that we were outside of the last orders timeslot, and those were the rules. When I question what time it was, he embarrassingly confirmed that we were 5 minutes within the window and as such shouldn’t have been refused seating. So he said on this occasion he can accommodate us and made it sound like he was doing us a big favour. I of course refused as we were already insulted and possibly discriminated and also didn’t want alien condiments on our food. I will never go there and based on the reviews I think we had a lucky escape. I will be extremely surprised it the restaurants exists next year!

The food in this place is amazing and also the service is absolutely fantastic, however the full service charge of your bill DOES NOT go for the staff!! I worked here for 2 months and they promised to me and the staff that still works here that we would get the full service charge an they lied o us. The full service charge if this place goes absolutely to the owner! And the way that they treat the stuff is absolutely mad.

So if you're thinking to come here to try the food and you want to tip the staff for the good service make sure that you ask the service charge to be removed!

well... the review above is not really true as far as i am concerned.. since i am working there currently...^^
as i have been told, the restaurant is in the middle of setting up the system for staff and we are nearly getting there to get some benefits soon! i can't say it is just such a easy job working there as a foreigner. However, i am just loving it by learning new oriental stuff n meeting good people there!!
well. well. well...... sorry that you only worked there for 2 months!!

Hi, Took my wife and two friends on Saturday,it was her birthday so I thought lets try somthing new. Never had Korean food before so we had no idea what to expect all I can say is we will be going to Kimchee again. The food was great and service was very good. The staff were very helpful and polite the restaurant is very nicely fitted out and I found the price very reasonable. We decided to try lots of different dish's and share, we had prawns, soft shell crab, beef, chicken and various vegetable dish's. It was very nice.

Went to Kimchee for the second time since it opened a month ago - what a turnaround!

Service was much better - staff were attentive and seemed alot more confident. Food wise, i really enjoyed the dishes i ordered. The kimchee & kaktugi were delicious and fresh & v spicy, exactly how i like it!

For side dishes, i ordered the Pa jeon and Dubu Kimchee - both piping hot and delicious, a vast improvement on last time i went. Drinks wise, i couldnt fault them. I ordered Soju Red and the flavours were lovely, my friend ordered Sojito and hers tasted yummy. We were so impressed with the drinks that we ordered another round of them.

For mains, we opted for the Bulgogi and the Chicken Dolsot Bibimbap. Both again arrived promptly and sizzling hot. The bibimbap was so much better than last time, more vegetables and rice and a decent sized portion. We couldnt leave without trying the BBQ dishes so we ordered the chicken bulgogi & the mackerel gui, enjoyed them both & would order them again.

Overall, i had a much better experience than the first time i went. Things are improving and i can see the restaurant going from strength to strength - looking forward to visiting again soon & trying out some more dishes!

Went there today (16 April). Had to queue to get in and then queue to be seated when the restaurant was only half full!

On being served our drinks the waitress said "don't look at me I'm not Korean" My friend and I were astonished by this remark when we hadn't even said anything to the waitress to get such a response.

We hadn't eaten Korean before so we asked another nearby waitress about dishes on the menu. She couldn't really help us!

Then one dish arrived before the others and the waiter said "this is the kichmee". It was in a small bowl and so we tucked in. Only upon asking another waitress were we told that it was actually my friend's main dish. We hadn't eaten Korean before and so couldn't tell what dish was which. We told the waitress that her male colleague had misinformed us to which she replied "I can't comment".

All in all not very good service at all and the food was mediocre. Wouldn't recommend it even with the current discount offer in place.

Ate here at lunch today. Entered the restaurant just before midday when it was less than half-full, but were still made to wait by the waitress at the door for about 3-5 minutes at the front before another staff member came to seat us, not sure why the first waitress couldn't just seat us immediately. Restaurant set up and atmosphere was great, staff were helpful.

Food was served pretty quickly. Seafood Udon was pretty good, tasty without being overwhelming. Their Korean pancake was average, but the Beef Dolsot Bibimbap was quite tasteless. Portions were small. Overall, food is nothing much to drool about. This place has potential...

Also once the 50% offer is over (18th April I believe) it won't be worth going to - a simple lunch for 2 like that would cost us just over £20, I wouldn't pay that much for what we got.

Worth a try before the offer's over to see what you think. Go early (1130-1200, and probably before 1800 for dinner) to avoid the crazy queue.

We went to Kimchee on Thursday night for at 7:00pm sitting. I read some mix reviews on the net but like to try out the place myself. There was a large Q but will worth the wait. We enter a very stylish restaurant, the interior was warm modern fused an wink to classic Korean. The walls where exposed layered grey stone covered with glass. They did similar style with natural wood walls covered with glass. What made it look like a preserved work of art. I have to say from beginning to end the staff could not have been more charming, helpful and were there when you wanted them to be. Although it was very busy. The waiter helped us with the Korean food as we where not familiar with this delightful cuisine. The food was wonderful really wonderful - We all loved it, we shared al dishes. As a starter we ordered the scallop skewer, chilly prawns and soft shell crab. Everything was very tasty, very hot (heat wise) and beautifully presented. We had various cocktails starting with a gorgeous red Soju one. Which was also very good and complimented the pork belly dish wonderfully. The Bulgogi dish was a delightfully tasty mix of flavors. I really enjoyed the vibe in Kimchee, we had an early sitting but it was buzzy and next to our group where many Korean guest. Looking at there faces it was obviously good food. The meal for three was well priced - as you can tell from the review we did not go mad but felt that we got good service and excellent food and therefore it was worth it. Can't wait to go again and will do so soon as it's well affordable.

I think some of the previous reviews are a bit harsh - its only been open for 3 days so it is bound to be a bit disorganised! That is probably why they have got the 50% off food offer. I went there for dinner last night (a Friday) and I think it has potential.

Service: I waited 40 minutes for a table which was to be expected since the queue was out the door. The staff were polite and friendly but you could see they were rushed off their feet. We waited a while for our drinks to be served and for the plates to be cleared. I think they need a few more staff members.

Food: The food came quite quickly and I thought it was really good (better than a lot of food I ate throughout Asia). I shared the Seafood rice dish in the earthenware pot, a lamb skewer (amazing!), the barbecued beef (number 47??), the Korean pancakes and chicken dumplings. The only complaints I had were that the portion size for the beef dish was too small to be a main dish and the Korean pancakes were tasteless. We were also missing 3 side dishes but they were on our bill so I don't know if the kitchen failed to make them or the waiter forgot to bring the food to the table.

I will definitely be going back, I think that in a few months once the service issues are ironed out it will be a great place.

The décor and atmosphere was wonderful! Sleek enough to make it feel special (it would good for a birthday, but equally trendy enough for a cool date) but also loud and buzzing enough to feel like it was meant to enjoyable and fun, rather than something more up-market, and stuffy.

I’m aware that it’s only been open two days so I’m sure a lot of what I’m about to say will be ironed out. Everything took too long. Nobody minds waiting between courses but there was an expectation that was created in our waiters speech as we arrived (‘let me tell you how this works...everything will arrive at once and as its ready....there’s no starter/main course structure’) that lead me to believe that the three dishes I’d ordered would, at some point, probably all be in front of me. This wasn’t the case at all. The two small sides arrived about 45minutes before my, much larger, main dish. I would have been able to enjoy the interesting flavours more if I'd be able to combine them. The drinks were no faster. Pretty much all of the above can be smoothed over in time once the staff know the menu and their way round. It also didn’t help that there were 9 of us in our group, we’re pretty loud and we ordered a lot of food and loads of different drinks.

I'd definitely give it another go in a few weeks when the managers have had a chance to absorb reviews and alter a few things. Basically, it has all the elements to be a really great, unique London restaurant - positive, helpful staff, amazing decor, great location, decent pricing, a large, interesting menu - they just need a bit of time to place, rather than muddle, it all together.

My 4 stars are in eager anticipation...

I went there on the first day of opening for my lunch. There was a bit of a queue outside, but very shortly my colleagues and i got a table. The whole place was packed but the service was good and food was tasty. We had one main course each, and loved it. Food price was average, starters about 4 pounds and main courses between 6 – 7 pounds and currently they're doing 50% off on all foods for first 2 weeks. The deco was a stand out especially the waiting area. Overall, I will definitely go there again and would recommend to my friends.

Just got back from my lunch at Kimchee. Absolutely loved the food!! I had never tried Korean food before (but love other asian foods) and i was very impressed. The food was so well presented and extremely colourful. It also tasted rather yummy! I had a sizzling chicken rice dish which cooks right in front of you - I would definitely recommended this.

At times the staff seemed a little overwhelmed as the restaurant was extremely busy for a Thursday. However they were still lovely and polite and i am aware that we visited on their second day of opening... Overall a great lunch!

I went to the opening day and the second day also. Food is very good. The quality of products is very noticeable and everything tastes very frech. Rice has no salt added and this is certainly much healthier than French or Italian food for example. Decor is great and staff is very friendly. This will be a regular place for me, Recommended.

Amazed by the popularity of this new restaurant - the queues outside are incredible!

Service was OK considering the fact that the restaurant has only been opened a few days. Food was delicious, personal favourites included the Pajeon and Tofu Dolsot Bibimbap - yum!

The BBQ grill looks very tasty and im looking forward to trying this on my next visit. The decor and ambiance is wonderful and those that designed this restaurant ought to be very proud of themselves!

Will definitely be recommending to friends and colleagues!

restaurant was ok. environment was very nice but the food was horrible. i was served cold rice and skewers which i was not happy about. the serving staff were struggling alot because it was very busy but were still really friendly and nice so no complaints with them. overall i wouldn't recommend it because of the food because it was not as grand as the whole restaurant itself. the owner/manager should have spent more thought on the food and kitchen rather than the surroundings!

Food: slightly above average - better than most Korean restaurants in central London; tries to be authentic (probably as authentic as it can get in London), but really catered for non-Korean taste buds which is fine as their audience is mainly non-Koreans; seems fresh ingredients are used; charcoal BBQ recommended; overall satisfying food!

Decor: fantastic - nice oriental vibe with full view of the kitchen; one of the best decorated Korean restaurants in London; original, authentic-esque cutlery and crockery.

Atmosphere: went for lunch - fully packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves

Service: waiters and waitresses were very polite and they seemed to know the menu well - was a bit disorganised because it was the opening day

Price: very decent - 6-7 pounds for main meal, 4-6 pounds for side dishes; currently doing 50% off deal until 18th April

Overall: thoroughly recommended if you are looking for something other than the usual oriental food (Chinese and Japanese) - would be great lunch/dinner out with friends

Obviously you work at kimchee to promote yourself on this website. Well you need to sort out your waiting staff because no one seems to know wot they are doing . Instead of standing around at the bar you should tell the staff to clear some tables . And dont get me started on the food. Food was horrible. Not hot, no taste and my skewers was half burnt and it was so hard that I couldn't chew . Had to spit it out. Think the best dish was the steamed rice. Thank god you guys got that right . If not then you rather close down . Forget about the opening.

Well... given the amount of people who came for the opening day, I thought the service was bearable and understandable. I had to wait outside for 40 mins because the queue was so long and perhaps because it was overflowing with people (which I think they were surprised by) the service was as such.

About the food, I have to agree. It was not as good as I expected, but marginally better than most Korean restaurants.

I was rating the restaurant relative to other Korean restaurants.

I agree that the service was not very good. But given that it was the opening night, it was expected to be slightly chaotic. I went there a few nights ago again, and all my food and drinks arrived in good time.

The food there is not something to die for, but the quality and the taste was within the price range and with the nice decor there was some buzz to the whole experience.

As an oriental myself, I have high expectations when it comes to chinese, japanese and korean food. But I thought it was good enough that I went back again!
