I'd read good reviews about this place so i thought i'd take my mum there. We did not receive a very warm welcome by the girl at the front desk. We were just a few minutes early and she obviously wasnt happy to accommodate us, even though we were happy to just sit in the corner for a moment. The rest of the staff were very friendly. The food tasted very nice but the portions were miniscule. I would have expected much more for the price. There was no music, no atmosphere and the £7.90 service charge was automatically added to the bill. Whilst i am more than happy to leave a tip, i understand that it is discretionary, not compulsary. I wont be going there again.
Not as pleasant as i hoped it would
To start with the staff is not the nicest, the most polite I've encounter in a restaurant,it was busy,,ish but nothing justified the feeling of impatience expressed by the M.D in his French style !!
The food was good though, although a bit "timid" on the quantity..that WAS disappointing,i hate living a restaurant hungry..
Prices are not the cheapest, yes the Chef is reputable, but that does not inflate the prices by right, that too WAS disappointing.
Nice deco, clean, lively place,so,some points are good.Would I go back? Probably not, value for money needs to be revised,as does the service, one expects better.
10/10 for starter and dessert -fantastic. Roast potatoes slightly overdone and past their best. Service friendly but overall poor due to no where to store a case, no offer to take coats or pour water. Decor good, food good. Get ur greeting sorted!
I love to dine out and when I heard about Kitchen W8 my friend and I went to test it out! I had the Froi Grois Mouse and to follow the Ox Tounge.
The mouse was just perfect and it was a brave choice on the Ox Tong as I had never eaten it before. I made a great choice. It was delicious.
My friend had the Bresola (not sure on spelling) and then to follow the Pork. The Pork was cooked to perfection and just melted in the mouth.
We decided to have the Pinot Grigio blush which went well with all the dishes and was an excellent recommendation. We shared a chocolate Brownie with Hazelnut Ice cream which was pure sin on a plate and every mouthful was luxurious.
The décor is sophisticated yet casual and a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff were efficient and friendly. I would strongly recommend you try it. I have already booked my second visit.
We went in curiously without reservation and were glad that we were not sent away although normally reservation here is required.
The atmosphere together with the decoration & the interesting paintings on the walls very lovely.
The warm eel salad was excellent and went smooth with the Chablis recommended by the service.
The service was all over friendly, however a bit rushing throughout the whole evening. We would definitely go back for more!
