After initially looking forward to eating at Kitchen N1 I'm afraid to say that I was incredibly dissapointed. The extensive menu they feature on their website was not there at the buffet. The salmon was burnt and crispy, the noodles were undercooked, the sweet and sour sauce was more like water. The sushi which eventually arrived was in such a small portion we felt bad for taking more than a coiuple of pieces.
We complained whilst we were at the restaurant and it was not taken seriously and so emailed the company afterwards with them claming they would get back to us within 24 hours, this was not the case and within the last 2 weeks have been hung up on by them twice as well as being told that there is nothing they can do.
I unfortunately would not recommend this buffet and would suggest visiting a Cosmo buffet instead which are fantastic.
I have just eaten at Kitchin and I go to sleep this evening quietly praying that I awake tomorrow. The food was so appalling, that I fully expect to be suffering over the weekend. Billed as a buffet offering Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Italian cuisine, the reality is that once you have paid up front - a worrying first impression - you will be confronted with an array of stodgy, fried and indiscernible reconstituted pap, soggy vegetables, curled pizza pieces, lame salads, picked over desserts. Without the signage, it would be impossible to pinpoint where in the world each dish came from. It's hard to recall or even imagine a restaurant in London which demonstrates as little care, love and passion for food. I deeply regret going, and I have no axe to grind - the service was adequate - but I would strongly advise anyone passing by to think twice and go somewhere else. One thing is for sure, you will regret crossing the threshold at Kitchin.

really really bad
the manager + the waiters lie
they are a con service
food is not fresh. everything is over cooked and average taste
the cost of this buffet is really bad for the service and food quality.
they try and charge you for large drinks when you can order small.
be aware of this if you go in a large group

This place deserves NO STARS the service is TERRIBLE! STAFF is very disorganized- they LIE to customers and management doesn't care or deal with the issue!Their booking system is ridiculous they do not take down customers bookings.. I was not happy with this place i would not recommend it.Waste of time!
Good food, great variety - there is something here for everyone. The best buffet I've had. The 'wok station' is particularly good, the chef rustles up a stir fry with ingredients that you personally select - with chicken/seafood/beef - so it can be customised to taste.
The desserts are great, fresh vanilla ice cream and copious amounts of cake, fruit and sweets.
The atmosphere is nice too. The drinks are slightly expensive. The only let down is the service, if the waiters had a bit more enthusiasm then the restaurant will definitely get a 5 star.
I would not recommend the place. The food isn't very good. I is supposed to be a fusion of 4 cuisine, but cooks are all Indian, so the only good food you get from there is Indian.
Italian, Chinese and Thai dishes very below average...
In need of a quick place to have dinner near Kings Cross? Then this fits the bill very well.
It is a buffet, and as such there is only so much that can be accomplished with the meals. But I think they surpassed my expectations, and it is among one of the best all you can eats I have been to. The Indian and Chinese dishes were very good. 4-5 choices of each with all the accompaniments. Rice was fluffy and hot, not a bit dry. And we both liked the dishes we tried (small amounts of all the sauces we'd never tried before). Great flavour and just spicy enough that the beers were needed to cool things off.
The Italian selection may have been a bit less then exceptional, but I think it would have been great for the little ones dinning, as it was lightly less inspiring, but still good. The salad bar lacked a bit of flair as well, for the most part; although the mussels and sushi were a hit. All this for £13.95 for an all you can eat... We tried some new dishes, loved quite a number, passed on some others, but left very, very full easily within the time we needed. The bill was £35.80 for two with a pint each. And we left so full I couldn't even have eaten another thing!
The staff were mostly great (all but one man who really didn't want to be there...) But the rest of the staff were so friendly and attentive that it made up for it. It was clean, and nicely laid out. Two large groups came in while we were there, and you wouldn't have noticed through the service or noise (one was a large group of teenage boys), and the kitchen stepped up to ensure that no one missed out on any dishes.
All in all perfect for what we needed. Fast, friendly, and filled us up! We will be back, and recommend it to anyone in the area looking for good food fast, but not fast food.
Went on a friday night - great buffet, they had huge variety, especially loved the duck , and live wok stir fry. The place was clean and the staff were attentive, a great find in central london , will be returning again for sure. All in all well worth the money ( £15 ). Would recommend !
Kitchen N 1 is Boring , overcooked , not fresh food and disgusting taste. No varities as indicated in their website. Soup looks and taste like it has been there since Christmas !
too pricey for what they offer.
I been to other buffets, they are much cheaper and well prepared.
Me and a group of friends went to eat at Kitchin N1 and it looked amazing as your food is prepared in front of you and the smell is to amazing and it gives the place a nice atmosphere.
Really tasty food and so much choice as they cook Italian, Chinese, Thai; we were spoilt for choice and the staff were really friendly, which made me get over my warm coffee.

I'm one of Kitchin N1's newest fans after visting last week with friends. I did not go in with high expectations knowing it was a buffet restaurant but was very pleasantly surprised; the greeting at the door was very friendly by a little man (possibly the manager).
The restaurant was really clean and the kitchen was open plan which I was really happy about (nice to see whats going on in the kitchen of a buffet!!) The chefs didn't stop, they were constantly cooking, keeping the food as fresh as possible.
Everyone was happy, there was enough of everything for everyone to enjoy it.
The price was reasonable, the food was really pretty good and the waiters were friendly. It's just a shame that it closes in the middle of the day!!
Talk about leaving a bad taste in your mouth this place is rank and should be avoided. I'm almost pulling my balls off in regret of going. Absolutely disgusting. A gypo's banquet. A quote from my friend 'i'd rather eat poo'
I have tried several buffet restaurants in London and in other cities in UK but I consider Kitchin as the best one. Extremely very clean even in areas that you serve yourself and tends to be a little bit messy in other buffet restaurants. Huge variety of dishes and salads. Extremely very tasty food and cooked to perfection for everything I tried (chicken, fish, beef). Also very friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely recommend it for dinner in any occasion.
Everyone knows what Chinese buffets are like. You have to be in the right place at the right time to get the food you want when it is freshly served! As we all know this isn't always the case and your choices can be limited - This is part of the package deal when it comes to buffets. You can't pay pennies and have food served to suit every individual. There are two separates concepts for restaurants and buffets and as soon as people accept this they will stop complaining about every buffet under the sun! As far as buffets go, Kitchin is one of the top. The price is pretty standard for an evening buffet - around £13 but it offers you a variety of cuisine under one roof! Have you ever been going out for dinner, on the verge of starvation but no one can agree on a restaurant? Yes, everyone has - Kitchin is the solution to that problem; Thai, Chinese, Indian and Italian!. I am getting on much better with my friends now thanks to Kitchin N1!
I come from France and I can say that it's a really good restaurants, with a good ambience, good service, great food. I will be back !
I have had mixed reports about Kitchin, some people say it is fantastic, other hate it.
I dined there a couple of weeks ago with a friend and really enjoyed it. They do not cook all the dishes from the menu every night which I found a little disappointing when I realised they missed the Thai Green Curry off for my visit! But I have to say other than that, the food was really good, kept fresh and unlike most Chinese buffets they have an extensive salad, fruit and desert counter!!
The waiter was very pleasant, he greeted us at the door and showed us to a table, he was always smiling!
I went in last night for a quick bite with a friend. I'm not sure if we were greeted by a manager or a waiter but he was really smartly dressed and very welcoming. He showed us to some tables and left us to choose where we sat.
He asked if we had been before and directed us towards the plates and the different types of food and took our drinks order - this is my only complaint - we ordered the cheapest wine and it really wasn't very nice! But then we got started on the food - which was great - a tasty mushroom salad, the chicken wings and the spicy beef were my favourites!!
Other than our poor choice in wine, I really enjoyed the whole experience - nice staff and tasty food!!...The music could have been a little louder, for a large restaurant it seemed a little quiet!
My new favourite cheap eat!
For less that £10 you can eat all you want and have a couple of drinks. The food is very tasty and it pleases me to see the chefs constantly cooking (you know the food is fresh!!). The staff are ok, I would not put them in front of Gordon Ramsay but they are always friendly which is all you need in a buffet.
Let me put one thing straight - London is an expensive city especially for those of us visiting etc so to put an all-you-can-eat for under a tenner next to the largest train station it is a surprise to me that people even bother with MacDonald's and pret!!
I went in for a quick bite well before my train was due to leave around 6pm. The food was fresh, the staff were smiling, the restaurant was clean and yet it was really quite quiet! I would have expected this to be a King's Cross hot spot!
The food is of MUCH better quality to the fast-food chains surrounding Kings Cross - my only thought is that people do not know it is there and how good it really is.
There was a noodle dish that I thought needed replacing and after politely asking a member of staff if this was possible the chefs were whipping a fresh batch up!! - Needless to say I was very impressed and the noodles were very tasty!
I would definitely recommend this has a fresh alternative for anyone looking for a quick eat!
Visited Kitchin today with group of people from work. Be warned - food is distinctly under average, and was empty for a Friday lunch! A bad sign in itself. They also tried to charge us the evening rate for the 'all you can eat' at £14 each rather than the £8. Looked like a standard trick, and there was no apology. Avoid Kitchin like the plague. Kitchin is like a butlins holiday camp diner without the cheerful staff. Go to Nandos instead. At least you know it's real chicken! ;)
I have to admit I am one of the bad people who have said terrible things about Kitchin in the past and now I have to take it all back!!
I went in about 6-8 months ago and was not that impressed. I saw the menu outside but the food that I wanted was not on offer, I was given the wrong drink...anyway - much to my disapproval I went in last week with friends and was completely shocked. Firstly, I don't know if it did on my visit but the menu stipulates that not all dishes are on offer at all times and I was given the right drink!! The food that was on offer were not dishes that I would usually order but my friends encouraged me to use the buffet as a 'time to try' experience!! I really enjoyed nearly everything I tried.
I have to give it to Kitchin, it really has improved and I will probably be going again as the value is fantastic.
This is a great place to go for a feast and friends night!!
You don't have to feel guilty about spending money because A. it is really cheap for central London and B. you can eat as much as you like!!
Another perk is - the tables are huge so you go in a massive group and still get a table (OK, maybe not Fridays and Saturdays!)
Definitely my favourite value for money restaurant!
Absolutely starving we arrived at Kitchin last week to be told we could not go in unless everyone in the party was eating or at least paying to go in. Our friend had already eaten when she came to meet us but wanted to join us for drinks while we ate. This was frustrating as we did not want her to pay for nothing but wanted her to join us. After a few minutes of hanging around the door the manager let us in on the condition that our friend did not eat from our plates.
The manager later brought over our drinks and apologised for the annoyance he caused us when we arrived and explained that they have had problems with customers deliberately saying that someone is not eating so they do not pay the full buffet price per person and instead eating from other people's plates. I can imagine this being a problem in most buffet restaurants. The food was great, the staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend it to others. I just hope the people who go there trying to get a free food stop ruining it for everyone else!
Friends and I stumbled across Kitchin N1 when waiting for a train. The restaurant is in very easy walking distance from King's Cross station on Caledonia Street.
We were all on a pretty tight budget and wanting different things to eat. We took one at the menu and were sold! It is a mainly Asian buffet but it also offers Italian dishes for those who do not like stir-fries, curries etc.
I have never known a restaurant to do this, it was brilliant, especially for a large group who couldn't agree on a restaurant. The restaurant itself was really quiet, whether this is because they close in the middle of the day I do not know.
We were seated straight away and within minutes we all had our beers. The kitchen is open and in the middle of the seating floor - the smell was just incredible.
Again, I think it was because they had been closed - we had to wait for some dishes to be made (but hey, at least we knew they were fresh!).
The food was great and we all left happy. I especially loved being able to have a piece of pizza with stir-fry on the same sitting! - I think I will now always get to the station an hour or so before my train to due to leave!!
Dissapointing.....I too have had the misfortune of eating at Kitchin N1.
Went there for a friends birthday and was disappointed.
Adv - nice location, nice venue
Dis - poor and rude staff, buffet that is missing items actually available and you have to have a buffet (cannot order anything else).
At £13 it is reasonable, however, the quality of the food backs up the price. Desserts were poor, and the waiters brang drinks to our table without taking an order.
We thought this was complimentary but were charged for it at the end!!!The decor and location is brilliant, but the rest of the experience is miserable. Avoid....
I have now been to Kitchin 4 times and not had a bad time once.
On one occasion I thought one of the dishes looked like it had been out on display too long - the member of staff I told was helpful, he immediately notified a chef and when it was done came and told me it was ready (it made me feel a bit guilty).
I usually pop in for lunch which is a mere £6 or so. How can I complain about a £6 selection of hot Asian cuisine when I compare it to my colleague's £5 sandwich and crips at his desk?!?!
Ate here last night with my girlfriend and our nephew and niece. I'd have to say that a meal out for four of us is a rare treat, and this was a crushing disappointment.
We had vegetarians in our party who only went because of the promised range of Italian veggie food (lasagne, range of pastas, pizzas, garlic bread, etc.).
Most of the dishes promised on the menu outside, however, simply weren't there. One of us ended up having three very sad looking slices of Margarita pizza and a spoonful of sweetcorn for their dinner - for which we paid £14 a head.
Meat eaters were also sorely disappointed with the Thai and stir-fry dishes; only a couple of the Indian dishes had a thumbs-up. Everything was also *really* salty and spicy (even the Margarita pizza), presumably so you'd bulk up your final bill with lots of expensive drinks.
Drinks, however, took forever to come - and we had to drink our beers from the bottle, as the glasses had dried food on them. Eventually, a bit freaked out by the low standards of hygiene, we gave up and left.
The bill for our 'big family night out'..? Nearly £80. The length of time we spent eating..? Slightly less than forty minutes... after which, we had to go and get sandwiches to fill ourselves up.Very, very strongly NOT RECOMMENDED.
Hi,
I come from Germany and I want to went in good restaurant, when i was visiting my friends in London.
I was looking of this site and I would like to went and ate in the kitchin.I was eating china food there and it was very good and for my moneybag ,too.
The kitchin have special offers for everybody. I was enjoying the excellent atmosphere, that is good for meet friends or the family.
I will go more in the kitchin, when I will visit my friends, because it is a special good, modern and beautiful restaurant.I can only advise the kichtin.
After reading some of the reviews, I wasn't too sure about this place.
But me and my friends wanted to go to a nice local restaurant for iftar one day, and were not bothered to look around for other restaurants, so went into Kitchin.
To our surprise, the setting was beautiful, stylish, modern, clean, spacious and very welcoming. The stuff were very nice and helpful.
It is buffet only, with many different range if dishes. You can even select your own mix for stir fry; and they fry it in front of you.
The food is very tasty; not like how some of the other reviews suggested, at all.
The buffet is £12.99 each, dirinks are £1.99 (small) or £3.99 (large).Oh, its halal too : )
Hi, I went eating out there a few times now. The staff there offers a fantastic buffet concept.
This means that you can get a perfect selection of different cuisines (Italian, Chinese, Thai and Indian) and an excellent selection of drinks around an open kitchen, which is located in the middle of the venue.
As we went there, we took the great 50% voucher with us and presented it to the staff. So we really paid a small amount of money, but got a good value for it.
The whole family enjoyed getting together at this lovely place near by kings cross. Best regards
Hi there, I totally disagree with the last review about Kitchin.
I have been eating there for a while and I can highly recommend the venue. The staff at the Kitchin N1 were always beautiful in every sense.
They were attentive, enquiring & extremely helpful. Whatever we wanted was no trouble and they took an interest in us and our wellbeing.
The restaurant was excellent in food and service as well.
The Chef's came to the table personally to enquire about the food.
I've never experienced that anywhere before. The menu is nice with a great variety of food (Italian, Thai, Indian etc.). Many of the ingredients are locally sourced and are very good quality.
The dishes are simply executed and tasty as a result relying on the quality of the ingredients to shine through.
If you fancy a well-rounded night of good food and an great atmosphere you really can’t ignore Kitchin N1.
A short and not so sweet review:
After passing by a few times I decided to go for lunch with a friend.
We were greeted by a waitress that seemed desperate to get us in and out as quickly as possible and explain what was what at lightening speed.
After being told to sit anywhere we liked, all the empty tables had not been cleared of the previous customers leftovers.
We had a walk round to see what looked good. Not much was the answer.
We were disgusted by the state of the old and greasy plates stacked up. Some even had dryed leftover food.
How can a restaurant give you filthy plates to eat from? Unacceptable.
I was about to leave, however my friend managed to get 2 clean plates and being very hungry and after hearing it was good food we decided to eat.
Curry = Tasteless Food in general = Boring. I wasn't excited by any of it.Meat = Chewy and dry.
Dessert = Wouldn't give to a child and still frozen.
SERIOUSLY! Stay away from this place. Even though people say "IT'S CHEAP THOUGH".... that is not a reason to go.
Most places that are cheap you get what you pay for and you expect what you get for your money.
However, at KITCHIN, it really isn't worth the money or the sickly feeling you have once you get out the door and realise what you have just eaten.
this place is fantastic dunno what restaurant the first reviewer visited, my mates went there the week before i went and they said it was so good they wanted to go again next week so i tagged along,
theres alot of variety there, very tastey food nice desert and very cheap worked out like £8 a person or sumfthing beacuse there was 7 of us there only problem was i ate too much lol, all u can eat its brilliant 5 stars
My wife and I had the misfortune to eat at Kitchin. We live close by and wanted to see what it was like after walking past each day during its construction. Inside, it's a huge space, and on the Saturday evening we went there it was mostly empty. As we arrived the waiter spilled out a load of information, which was said so quickly that we couldn't comprehend half of it. The deal at Kitchin is that you get to sample foods from 5 different areas of the world - India, Thailand, Italy, Mexico and China - all for c.£15 at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
On stepping up to the buffet we found that most dishes seemed to have spent some time there already. Chefs stand behind the buffet but with so few customers there's little they can do apart from tell you what is what. We loaded our plates with a selection of food and sat down. The Indian food was mediocre to say the least, with tasteless samosas (lacking any real spice) and dull curries. The Italian food was no better, just thick bready pizza with a sweating cheese topping.
We moved on to desserts and found that what passes for desserts at Kitchin is a pick'n'mix counter! Ok for a children's party but not what you would expect from a real restaurant. We munched on some fizzy cola bottles as we discussed the complete lack of any Mexican food.
When we confronted the waiter about the missing Mexican fare, he plainly told us that we had been given this information as we entered. We answered that this obviously hadn't been given clearly enough because we weren't aware of it, and that we should have money taken off the bill to reflect the false advertising of a restaurant with food from 5 different areas of the world. Finally, after two separate requests we were able to speak to the manager, who arrived at our table and asked "What's your problem?". He eventually conceded to take some money off the bill, but suggested he would do this by waving the service charge. He didn't seem to understand that su
