Konaki Greek Restaurant

I have regularly eaten at this restaurant over the past 5 years and without exception have always had a good time, with pleasant service and wonderful food. A good few of the guests I have taken have become regulars of the place. A little gem.

Sad that good Greek cuisine is spoilt by bad attitude and atmosphere. Having Greek heritage I hoped for better to bring a lady enjoy a candle lit dinner with good food and music. What I got was reheated food from the freezer (seemed like it anyway), it certainly wasnt fresh - I cook Greek food myself so I know the difference. The event spoilt the occasion and will not be returning anytime soon. Perhaps the owners are just bored or not bothered to fix it. I can only assume that the 5* raters here are staff or friends of the restaurant. Want real Greek food, go to the places nearer St Sophia Church.
Been to Konaki yesterday with some friends. One of them sold the idea to try Konaki and we accepted. It was our first time at a Greek Restaurant and the experience was not good. The person greeting the customers was extremely rude and was reminding us all the time that we were not welcoming there. We wanted to seat outside in the courtyard and although there was plenty of tables available he practically forced us to seat in a table in the corridor. It is a shame really, because the food was good, but his attitude broke the magic. I might be wrong here, but I\m almost sure that he is the owner of the place. Is it a Greek way to treat customers? I don't think so. If you want try a Greek restaurant, konaki is definitely not the place.
A consistently excellent dining experience, to which I have taken many colleagues, peers and friends. This is a restaurant that I typically frequent every time I travel to London, so over 20 times in 2009.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, whilst the outside dining tables are a must for chilled out supper in the summer.
Most importantly though is the food and drink, and I have yet to find anything on the menu that I would not recommend, and as you will note from the above frequently do.
A birthday meal, and what a disappointment. Crab sticks, cold mashed potato and stale houmus included in the meze for starters.
We were asked if we would like pitta bread with our meze - how else were we supposed to eat houmus, taramasalata etc?
So the pitta bread was not included, but an added extra. My tuna was over-cooked and did not taste fresh.
Lamb was mutton and chewy - inedible. We complained and did not get a satisfactory response.
We didn't stay for desserts or coffee. The bill came to over £100 for four! I will not be returning and do not recommend to anyone.
took my partner ( who lives in liverpool ) to konaki on friday night.had been telling him all about the restaurant and looking forward to it all week after a recomendation from an old work colleauge.as we entered we were sat right at the back in a very narrow part of the restuarant and almost had the same elbow room as being on a plane.
ordered the meze, very mediocre, a variety of dips and pitta bread, a 'greek' salad with very un authentic'feta' cheese ( tasted very wet and like cheap substitute ).followed by a strange oily salad with a few strands of tasteless 'crab stick'the piece of greek sausage was tasty as was a piece of kekbab style meat, then the fresh calamri was the only part of the meal we really enjoyed. we had began to lose interest in the meal before being given the last course of grilled meat..
the chicken tasted dry and rubbery as though it had been cooked and put in a microwave and the rest of the meat was dry and bland.we both left the chicken in fear of making us ill.we had 2 bottles of wine at £15 and the meze was listed at £18 each, my calculation would be £66 ( plus a normal 12.5 % service charge ) would end at around £75, however the bill was £82 with no mention of service charge, only £7 or so on top of what we should have paid, but felt 'ripped off' from a very un-inspiring meal.
i certainly would not go back and felt embarrassed and awkward for taking my partner there after giving konaki such a glowing build up.a damp squib food wise, but the enjoyable santorini wine made up for the dissapointing cuisine.Comment added Mon 09
I have been a regular customer of Konaki for the past 10 or so years.
I find the food most excellent in some cases better than any food i have tried while on holidays in Greece(particularly the Tarama).
Service is excellent and although occasionaly it could be faster it is usually when the restaurant is at full capacity.
Prices are very realistic considering the portions and the location of the place and not once have i found any hygienic issues like mice as the chap above mentioned. In fact i would say the place is spotless!
I have looked long and hard to find a better Greek restaurant in and around London in terms of food and so far nothing beats it!
I highly recomend to anyone to go there and try the Meze at least once!!
I was dining on 2nd August and was enjoying the evening when out of the corner of my eye I saw a mouse. This instantly put me off my dinner. When the waitress came to take my plate she asked why I hadn't eaten any. I explained about the mouse to which she just laughed. This was not the response I expected. At the end I had to question the bill and had to suggest what should be done. So not the best in customer service.
