Poor quality food, buffet is a rip-off with just 5 dishes.
lazy staff with an attitude.
Avoid this place like plague.
Quite the worst curry restaurant in the country. This is a lesson in why you should avoid any rest. that charges a service charge.
If the staff had cared any less then we would of cooked it ourselves. Uncommunicative, rude, lack lustre, uninterested staff. Food was luke warm and average at best.
The italian next door is 100% better. We tried that the next night.Avoid this place at all costs.
Lackluster service and poor food. Finished the night off with a burnt tongue. Not pricey, though it cost too much. Avoid.
Admittedly it was a Monday evening, rather than a busy weekend night, so maybe the top chef / staff are not working.
Meal:2 x Spiced Popadoms, usual condiments Mixed Platter (sheek kebab, chicken tikka piece, lamb, onion bahjee)Chicken Mai(?) Supposedly *the* dish for hot curry lovers with Basmati Rice and Peshwari naan.
Gulab Jamon for desertCoffeePopadoms arrived via dumb waiter on plate with regular popadoms. My waiter picked my popadoms up and put them on a separate plate with his bare hands - ok, +5 points for creative solution, -100 for urggh!
Spiced popadoms tasted fine, the onion salad was old, dry and stale.Mint Yoghurt sauce was ok, though lacked flavour.Chilli lime pickle/mango chutney was goodStarter arrived half-way through first popadom..not a good start
Mixed platter overall good, though sheek kebab was red, though not raw, in centre - and no, it wasn't the spice :-)Main arrived promptly (1-2 mins after)This main is best described as average to poor.
The chicken was overdone, I would suspect it was reheated and cooked too long in the sauce. Spice level was around jalfrezi to madras - Not as indicated in the menu. The rice was stale and/or undercooked - I understood now why the waiter was insisting I really wantd the coloured Pillau rice instead of Basmati...
The Peshwari naan bread was covered in white seeds - never seen this before, but after scraping them and the butter coating off it tasted ok.
Next, desert - Gulab Jamon. Impossible to get wrong - heck, you can buy them in a tin and heat them yourself... oh, how wrong I was.
The syrup was hot, though the balls were cold - fridge cold... I asked them to be fixed. The whole thing was microwaves and I burnt my tongue.. revenge I guess! ;-)
I moved to London last Spring and this was one of the first Indian restaurants I dined at. Immediately I was impressed. I've been back at least 3 times a month. Their sauces aren't too oily, their meats are of good quality, and their naan excellent. Their prices are also quite reasonable. My girlfriend and I can dine there with dessert for about £25 total. I've been to fancier, more expensive places and Kwality comes out ahead each time. Service isn't always the greatest but upon returning you'll find alot of familiar faces at the different tables; repeat customers are common.
Kwality is like that other famous K place, Kwiksave. Cheap, cheerless, and full of carnie folk.
If they can’t even spell Kwality correctly, what hope is there for them achieving it?
