I've been in Argentina and this restaurant nothing even close to an Argentinian steak, you can find in your local super market better meat, such a shame! steak though! prices ridiculous!
What more can you ask for... no fancy decorations, just good honest "down with it" atmosphere and great food. The Rib-eye was succulent, well seasoned, superbly tasty... topped off with a smooth Malbec. A Great boys night! I don't understand all the negative comments... must be a different restaurant, or ridiculous expectations.
Me and my girlfriend ate here on Saturday evening on the spur of the moment after a change of plans. The waitresses were miserable, and the menu extremely limited. The only beer on the menu was San Miguel, freshly brewed in Luton (maybe it's me but that seems plain lazy to not have any export beers). We ordered a chorizo and a pepper starter. The pepper seemed microwaved and soggy. The chorizo I can barely describe how poor it was. We left 90% of it. If that is Argentinian chorizo then give me the Spanish take on it every time.In fairness the steaks were OK, but no better than a 5/10 and for the price (approaching £20 per steak) that is not good enough. The nail in the coffin was the prevailing Elvis' greatest hits in the background for 90 minutes. NO!!!!Will not be back.
Had dinner with my partner and parents on Saturday night and overall it was quite disappointing.
There are only 4 starters on the menu (maybe 5) and they don't sound overly appealing; nevertheless we ordered 3 (peppers, chorizo sausage and argentinian pasty). They were fine, but more choice would have been nicer.
For mains we all had Steaks (3 Rib Eye and 1 Fillet) and 2 sides of Chips and 1 Sauteed Potatoes. The Chips and Potatoes were virtually identical, apart from herbs or seasoning on the potatoes. Basically the chips were large potatoes and not like chips at all.
The steaks were ok, but not very tasty and definitely lacked seasoning. For £18.50+ each I expected more.
As for the staff, there is one woman/girl (early 30's) in there who is completely miserable and rude. She never smiles and when I asked for a recommendation on the wine she just pointed at the menu. The food did come very quickly, but the overall service was poor.
It was £147 for four people, which included 1 bottle of wine and 3 other drinks; 3 starters and 4 mains. Not bad, but again the service let it down and made it seem more expensive than it should have been.
I personally wouldn't go again.
I've been to Pampa grill last night. Being myself Argentinian I felt homesick and needed some good steak. My first impression was that the music was also salsa!. I love salsa but it has nothing to do with Argentina. Then the decoration didn't make any sense so I ask the waiter and he turned out to be Colombian and so the restaurant owners. I felt cheated but I carried on with my dinner. I ordered an empanada, I received a Colombian empanada, one of those you normally have at La Bodeguita in Elephan & Castle with a weird sauce, it was nice though but not what I wanted. Then we wanted some bread but it had ran out so we were offered bread from the day before which was "still fresh". Obviously, we refused it. The Bife de Filete was fine, probably because it said it's brought especially from Argentina, who knows. The last straw came when I asked for some chimichurri and they said the weird sauce was actually chimichurri. What? I couldn't believe it. I don't think you have to be born and raised in the country you are cooking food from, but at least you must have some basic knowledge of its cousineservice was poor and staff unsmiling yet quick. Not coming back again, for £80 I can get something much better. La Pampa Grill lets Argentina down.
Visited La Pampa Grill on Saturday 6th March, and to be fair found it a little disappointing. The menu was short and too the point, and despite the dishes being authentic, lacked any real imagination. Due to this declined the starters, and moved straight onto the mains. Decided to opt for the Ribeye, and although the size of the steak was good, not very tasty, and lacked the required marbling that would have added much needed flavour. Came with a side order of chips, which looked and tasted a lot like my partners sauteed Potatoes.
The only good point to be had, was the wine list, which had a number of good reds. So if you like the Malbec Grape you will not be disappointed. Desserts were so so. If you live in the area, may be worth a visit, but for the money there are alot better steak meals to be had just up the road. Or just visit your local butcher, and buy your own steak for 1/2 the price.
Sirloin inedible. Confusion as to which was filet and which was sirloin. Lost my vegetables when I asked for the meat to be cooked more, had ordered medium and it came blue. Very haphazard, bread and water took ages. Lack of attention to detail. Take the money and run attitude. Will not be back.
La Pampa Grill is fantastic. We have visited a number of times in the last 18 months and always want to go back. Don't expect something fancy or romantic. It does what it says on the tin- delivers great quality food which tastes delicious. Simply order a fillet steak, fries and a bottle of Malbec and you will walk out with a smile on your face.
I totally agree with the reviewer below. I visited the restaurant very recently and I was disgusted with the service and attitude of the waiters.
Firstly we were told when we arrived that we had to leave the table by a certain time.
Then when we the food arrived, they made a total hash of the order and became very assertive telling my friends that it was their fault and not the restaurants.
Finally, when we paid. The waiter counted the money right in front of us.
I would not recommend this too anyone who likes service and/or wants to receive the food that they ordered.
My dinner at La Pampa Grill was the most disappointing meal I have had in a long time!
The starter of palm hearts in pink sauce is tinned artichokes and bottled Heinz thousand island, on a bed of lettuce. My boyfriend and I both ordered the fillet steak, medium rare, but when it arrived it was actually very well done and dry - fundamental mistake for somewhere that's supposed to be one of the best Argentinian steak houses in london. When I asked to take mine back I was met with incredulous faces from the waiting staff - after I had to actually prove to the watiting staff that it was in fact well done they took it back and replaced it (the staff surrounded me like a pack of wolves, which was very embarrassing, and they were actually quite rude).
The food is not good at all here, steak comes out on a bit of wilted lettuce, like you'd find at a Harvester, and the meat is not good quality. You have to purchase side orders separately as well which I think is a rip-off. The only redeeming thing was the wine, we had a very good Cabernet Sauvignon for a reasonable price. Overall, very expensive - our bill came to 70 pounds for two and I felt thoroughly ripped off. I will not be returning to La Pampa Grill.
La Pampa Grill has beautifully prepared food from a simple menu, great wine and friendly efficient service...and some gratis Amarrettos!
