I first visited La Sophia with my fiance after a friend's recommendation.
We absolutely loved both the food and Ali's genuine and warm hospitality. Extremely good value for top cuisine. In addition to classic French and Mediterranean dishes -always beautifully excecuted-Ali can also create unusual dishes with a twist.
Without hesitation, we decided to hold our recent post-wedding lunch at La Sophia. We completely trusted Ali to design the menu and we were not left dissapointed. The result was a fantastic fine dining experience enjoyed by 50 guests. Excellent food ideas all executed at a very high standard, good service by the friendly but discreet staff, will to accomodate all our requests even at the last minute.
We had a truly memorable day at La Sophia and will continue visiting to sample each and every new menu Chef Ali designs. It was about time Londoners can experience some superb halal food. Highly recommended.
We have bought our "meal deal" on Groupon and we can honestly say that this was the first time we arrived somewhere with Groupon voucher and were NOT treated like second class guests. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff was also very friendly and attentive and we had such lovely time, we will be certainly coming back soon.
We were a group of 29 in the private dining area down stairs in late April celebrating my 40th birthday. The manager was very accommodating from the start. We agreed on a set menu how the night would plan. Everything turned out excellent better than expected. The food was incredible, cooked perfect and real yum, no delays. The staffs were friendly and helpful. Drinks were always poured, food was on time and the best part of it all is we didn’t have to worry for a second and enjoy our evening. They even extended the licence for us to enjoy until 2am at no extra charge! Thank you
La Sophiais perfect for a romantic lunch but I have been told by the waiter it’s even better in the evening. I could only imagine and will return for dinner one night. The service is attentive, the food divine, the filet, rabbit were very good and wine selection is well suited for all budget, the wine that we were advised to go with our duck meal was perfect. La Sophia will not disappoint.
We had the set lunch menu and a glass of wine each at La Sophia. We had a wonderful time: the food was exquisite – truly delicious – and the service impeccable: warm, friendly, charming and efficient. And great value too!
This was our second visit and yet again we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, Olivier the new Maitre d' was quite charming. They even provided a "meal" for our 8 month granddaughter! The scallops were delicious, the lamb melted in your mouth and the chocolate fondant was to die for. Can't wait to go back
Lastnight we had dinner at La Sophia on the Grove, off Portobello Rd. What an absolute gem to find. My meal was absolutely amazing. I had a goats cheese souffle which is probably the best thing I've tasted in years, followed by my main of stuffed chicken breast with a divine parmesan mash. Mmmm, absolute heaven. It was really hard to choose from the menu. It all sounded superb. Will be trying La Sophia again sometime soon.
