I have been to La Trompette on a number of occasions and it can be a bit hit-and-miss. The staff are normally well trained and informative however the last time I visited they ‘forgot’ orders, sat us at a cramped table and overcharged us by £90. When the error was pointed out they recalculated the bill and still managed to get it wrong (in their favour). When this was pointed out to the manageres the response was far from apologetic. That said, the food is still first rate and the wine list comprehensive and good value. All-in-all it’s still one of my favourite restaurants and hopefully they will sort the staffing issues out.

My husband took me to La Trompette to celebrate a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing, the wine perfect and the service attentive but unobtrusive. Although not cheap it was well worth it as a treat, and still less than a restaurant of its caliber in central London. La Trompette is highly recommended.

La Trompette never told us they had a 10.30 cut off time when we rang beforehand to say we were late, and they even took our coats before then chucking us out with no food! After years of real loyalty, and strong support as I'm local, I feel sorely disappointed.

La Trompette has always been an arrogant and self satisfied restaurant. The manageress showed passive aggressive pleasure in refusing us entry for being 10 minutes past the required arrival time. She only offered us a plate of cheese - could she have been ruder? Ballet dancers from the Royal Ballet are shown huge respect in the West End but here it was nasty, spiteful and suburban. This ia a commercial restaurant with little charm.

I am awaiting a proper reply from the manager but I doubt he can be honest and apologise. We could have dined anywhere that night rather than be humiliated by poorly trained staff. It was my worst experience dining out. It was hurtful, frankly. Avoid La Trompette at all costs.

What on earth has being a ballet dancer from the Royal Ballet got to do with anything with regards to the treatment you receive in a restaurant? What a conceited approach to take.

La Trompette is quite simply an “Orgasmic delight for your taste buds!” If you're looking for an experience that tingles in your mouth then visit La Trompette, you won’t be disappointed.

Try the plate of bresaola with anchovy dressing, rocket and parmesan for starters followed by Duck breast, croustillant and foie gras with endive and cherries finishing off with Basil granita with pineapple and fromage blanc sorbet for dessert to really blow your mind. You’ll end up with a mix of wow to how and leave the night thinking of the next time you’ll visit.

The menu changes slightly depending on the season, this is the second time we have visited La Trompette and have yet to be disappointed. Staff are friendly, warm and understanding. They know the menu and make excellent recommendations if you're unsure.

The atmosphere is calm, collected and sophisticated, so if you’re out to impress go here. Also, it’s completely non-smoking not that you would want to smoke anyway!

So to all the taste-bud junkies and those which have yet to be stimulated – La Trompette will definitely blow your horn!

La Trompette is undoubtedly my favourite French restaurant in London. I have nothing to fault this restaurant on only that its so far from me, but if you want a good quality restaurant but don't want to pay through the nose for a top West end restaurant then this is defintely the one to try.

A bit about the restaurant...they have a daily set menu priced at £32 for 3 courses which relies heavily on seafood...try the seabass, which melts in your mouth and the olive mash is to die for...as for dessert it looks too good to eat!

Wines are impressive too and the service is very good. With wine, food and coffees the average per person is about £65 which is pricey but for special treats it's worth it.

The only complaint I have is to check your bill carefully as my friend was charged twice on her credit card. Also book early if you intend to visit over the weekend as it does tend to get quite packed...book at least a week in advance...also it's very nice in the summer as they have a terrace. Bon appetit!!
