I went here with my girlfriend wanting to try a new cuisine we'd never tried before, and we weren't disappointed. The food was 'superb'! After reading 5 minutes on wikipedia about Ethiopian food, we had our mains with the sour doe flat bread, a food which accompanies most of their meals, and I would recommend the same. I had minced beef stew with an egg in (Minchetabesh), and my partner had Fried Fish Tibs (a kind of sauteed fish with veg and onions). Both very tasty meals and I strongly recommend anyone to go wanting something a bit different (especially fans of indian food).

We went to this restaurant almost by accident. The decor won us over and was an inviting start but the food was incredible. We had not thought much of what Ethiopian food would be like, but the range and quality was exceptional, catering well for both vegetarian and meat eaters. Best of all was the ceremony for the coffee - a great way to end a great meal. The staff were also excellent - helpful without being intrusive.

Excluding Lalibela's out-of-the-way location everything else is near-perfect. They have authentic decor, wonderful food and friendly service. I've never ordered alcohol though so I don't know about the cocktails.
Lalibela is one of my favourite restaurants in London.

Obviously, Ethiopia isn't renowned for its cuisine, but Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant is amazing. Lots of stuff you wouldn't find anywhere else - garlic tofu, tomato pancakes - and all served in a laidback, ethnic atmopshere.
Lalibela is excellent.
