The ViewLondon Review
Lamberts is a charming and subtly stylish modern British establishment, which produces dinners made with fresh, organic produce from local farms and producers.
The Venue
The restaurant is elegant and provides the feeling of space despite the room’s moderate size. There’s a simple two-tone interior colour scheme and the bar is well stocked and appealing. Tables are simple and clutter is kept to a minimum.
The Atmosphere
Lamberts kept lively by friendly, bubbly staff who are attentive and professional. The mood is warm - glowing lighting encourages thoughtful conversation and patrons acknowledge each other’s presence. Just bear in mind that Sunday lunch at Lamberts is very popular and largely features the south-London yummy-mummy set so is a much louder and more child-orientated affair.
The Food
Lamberts only use fresh, local produce from well chosen suppliers – obvious in the strong flavours. The menu is thoughtful and detailed and at under £20, the midweek three-course set menu is terrific value with no detriment to food quality or presentation. Top marks!
The Drink
There is a good selection of wines on offer, and the insightful staff are happy to offer recommendations. Desert wines are suggested for each pudding, and a wide range of classic spirits are available.
The Last Word
Lamberts offers reasonable priced first-class cooking in relaxed surroundings that forego the pretension of some London restaurants. This could be one of the best small-sized restaurants you visit this year - definitely worth the trip south of the river!
