Don't be fooled by the apparent ambience you see through the window. The staff don't seem to care if their customers live or die. Five staff ignored us while we stood at the counter waiting to order and the person at the till (manager?) thought it more important to continue bagging up organic basil than to serve us. Don't expect a smile from anyone. It wasn't just us; subsequent customers got the same treatment. The lay out is awkward, with seating limited by lots of oversized display cabinets but even then it's not easy to see what's on offer across the menu. The food eventually arrived before the coffee and both were good but not great. By that point it didn't matter though. We'd already decided never to come back. If you like being treated with, at best, indifference and like to wait an inordinate amount for time for simple coffees and food then this is your place.

Such a nice cafe inside...Why, why, why such a slow service? It is sometimes 4 people behind the bar and not more than 5 customers inside (yes, in both rooms) yet all staff seem to be disorganised, not knowing what to do and if, they do it very slowly.
To get 'good morning' or a smile is almost impossible.
Maybe the next time if you will mix full fat with skimmed you could ask me if I don't mind?
Why are you constantly burning and reheating milk in VERY DIRTY jugs? It takes few seconds to clean them!
Once I was waiting with my friends for espresso for 15 minutes...First she took dirty plates out of the tables around and put them to the tray with our espresso and than served us. That poor coffe didnt had any crema, was cold, not water offered, in fact, the service don't talk to you at all!

Why do I still get my coffee there on weekends? It is only the convenient position of this cafe. But I promise, this was 10th time and to get 1 nice coffee out of 10 is very very poor result. Never more!

I've been a regular customer at Lemon Monkey for the last year and a half- I love the open, spacious main room and the huge window in the front is ideal for people-watching.
The quality of food, coffee and wine is excellent- there's clearly attention the detail and care in evidence at this place, and I frequently pop in especially for the lunch specials- you get value for money here and leave satisfied.
At times the service is a bit slow, but I suspect this is due to under-staffing rather than slackness and is forgivable at peak times in light of the pleasant over-all experience.

I've been to the LM maybe 10 times - I live 10 mins away and was very pleased to see it when it opened but I've finally decided to call it a day and move over the road to the Retro Cafe. Taking into consideration that staff in Stokey's cafes are often too cool to care the LM offers some of the worst service I have ever experienced and at those prices I think the only retort is to take my hard earned cash somewhere else.

The staff are obviously uninterested in the customers and it is not unusual to wait 15 minutes for them to bring a simple cup of coffee. Trust me, we've timed it. I've never eaten there in the evening but the pastries, cakes and coffee are nothing special and extremely expensive for what you get. It's a strange layout - all that space take up with lots of trendy mismatch furniture which is uncomfortable and crowded together or the dreary back room which is a bit like a junk shop. Steer clear! In contrast, as I say, the Retro across the road may resemble a teenage bedroom but the girls who run it are a delight, the food tasty and the coffee good - at half the price and THEY SERVE YOU AT YOUR TABLE!
