The ViewLondon Review
The second instalment of the celebrated healthy eating fast food stable (more of this, please) Leon Ludgate is a sprawling and appealing space. The VenuePleasingly idiosyncratic in its aesthetic, there’s a long bar and distressed leather armchairs, cute paint pot stools and red walled seating. The vast and eclectic selection of books dotted around the rooms makes for better waiting times, too.
The AtmosphereThe place gets packed around lunchtime when te office crowd moves in, but after 5pm it's much more laid back and relaxing.
The FoodWith no added salt and sugar-free options through much of the menu, it has differing feels for lunch and dinner. Served in old school brown paper boxes, chilli chicken shish is fresh tasting and the accompanying slaw and rice added colour and variety. Cakes are delicious – particularly impressive is the chocolate brownie, which supplements refined sugar with fructose. Guilt free calories always make for easier eating.
The DrinkDrinks are beautiful, too. A breakfast smoothie carries enough weight and nourishment to easily see you through the morning, while the lemon and honey zinger is refreshing, warming and cleansing. Also noticed are the presence of hot toddies (it’s not all healthy healthy – they serve alcohol here, too) - always a great addition to any winter menu.
The Last WordLeon Ludgate is a great initiative, with even more branches sure to follow. Bye bye, McDonalds.
