What the hell has happened to food at Leon?

It used to be good and fresh.



Last thursday we were on the south bank and called into the Leon behind the tate modern for a bite to eat. Seeing that you now offer a set 'dinner menu' with a selection of dishes we decided to go for the classic menu with an addition of chilli chicken.

The service was good, the staff were friendly and the food came remakably quickly. Too quickly. Quickly enough to make me suspect how long it had been cooked and kept warm.

It was far from being 'naturally full of flavour, full of goodness', as you claim in your vision - most of it was suspect to say the least.

Lets begin with the chicken, the appearance was akin to meat that had been stripped from a week old corpse - it was grey. Very grey. Scarily grey.

The texture was spongey and the flavour was, well, erm, gone. There was none at all - it tasted like it had been boiled for a good period of time and then kept warm in some sort of briney concoction. It was bloody awful.

I returned both chicken dishes to a very apologetic waitress - who returned within two minutes with a bowl of replacement cadaver. Just as bad - my partner ate it all I could do was look at the abject matter on offer and wonder.

The other dishes were ok - the hummus being by far the best thing on offer - but none of it was worth raving about.

Now I don't expect to go to Leon for a fine dining experience but I do expect that what is served as chicken resembles something recently killed - not recycled road kill



I definitely won't dine out on that again

I regularly eat lunch here (both eating in and grabbing a takeout). It is a reasonable price and the food is realy nice with super salads and chicken dishes and the cakes are also pretty decent. Service is good and they do a loyalty card. Tasty, fresh ingredients and quick service.

If you like excellent food that uses superb ingredients then give Leon a go as it realy is a quality restaurant. I took my wife there and she was very impressed by the vegetarian options so meat dodgers will definitely enjoy it. Leon is certainly somewhere I'd be happy to recommend.
