The Little Bay restaurant serves large portions of well cooked basic dishes in a unique setting close to Kilburn High Road. Diners can enjoy great food by candlelight in surroundings that are quite simply unique.

The Venue
Although located only five minutes from Kilburn Park Underground Station and even closer to Kilburn mainline station, Little Bay is easy to miss from the main road due to its location along a street that looks small and insignificant at one end. However, once located Little Bay is a special find. Once inside you are struck by the bold red walls and distinctive street scenes painted on the tables. The most noticeable element of the layout of Little Bay is the internal balcony seating areas which occupy all four corners of the restaurant. These vertical seating areas are reached via steep wooden stairs and diners should take care with the low ceilings. They’re reminiscent of sitting in a theatre box and provide a special setting in which to sample the large dishes available at Little Bay.

The Atmosphere
The staff at Little Bay are extremely accommodating and their friendly attitude adds to the warm charm of this unusual venue. Waiting staff appear to take pleasure is assisting guests with menu selections, describing dishes in great detail. The mood here is relaxed with couples and groups of friends enjoying drinks and food without being rushed – don’t be surprised if you’re asked if you’d like a break between courses to allow time to digest the substantial portions.

The Food
The standard of food is high and with an open kitchen guests can see that the chef is proud of his creations. Dishes are cheapest between midday and 7pm but even after taking this into account visitors should find evening meals are exceptional value for money with options starting at around £6. Daily specials, generally priced at £1 more per dish, provide diners with extra choices on top of the standard menu. Starters, which include options such as salmon cake and goat’s cheese croquettes, are large and well presented. The oily garlic mushrooms are served with a sweet mild orange hummus and a fresh colourful leafy salad in a sharp vinaigrette dressing. The Parsons Pastry, a soft and light creamy chicken and mushroom dish in filo pastry, is light considering its typically large size.

The main menu carries a number of fish, game and vegetarian dishes alongside familiar steak options. The Belize Chicken is a hearty dish with tender breast meat stuffed with mince served with delicate mash seasoned liberally with tarragon and mint and thick gravy. The tender lamb steak is lean and unfatty and is served covered in a light peppercorn sauce with vegetables. The side dish of green vegetables is literally a bowl of warm broccoli. Little Bay has a strong focus on serving great food that tastes good and is well presented and this can be seen throughout. Desserts include a dish of two large profiteroles full of banana infused cream drizzled in rich chocolate whilst the sweet strawberry cheesecake is about the size of a brick.

The Drink
The wine menu at Little Bay is varied and good value for money with a bottle of house red from the specials menu starting at under £9. The standard house red is a fruity Bordeaux, light in texture with a strong hint of berries. A wide range of European beers, imported spirits and standard soft drink options are available, as well as a medium sized range of liqueur coffees on offer.

The Last Word
Little Bay provides guests with a fun dining experience providing fresh, well cooked dishes of substantial sizes in an unusual quirky setting.
