A visit to the Loch Fyne was very disappointing, we were greeted and shown to our table which was fine. Our waitress offer the menu and took our drinks order, it was just my partner and I who had gone for a quite meal for his birthday. Drinks arrived and we ordered our meal, the waitress was far to familiar and wanted to stand and chat about her day!!!! we wanted to be left to enjoy our drinks and wait for our food.Food was very disappointing, we ordered of the a la carte menu, and for the size of the portions was over priced.We both had the steak which for over £20 was very poor and came with a few mushrooms and chips. ( I mean a few mushrooms.)The waitress kept coming back over and chatting...one of comments where 'excuse me while I go and cough my guts up'.Would you want to to eat there???? we will not be that for sure!!!!

If you are looking for fantastic fish restaurant this is the one to visit!!
Food was great; the Thai prawn curry was much much better that the one I ate in Thai restaurants! Mackerel pate was gorgeous!
Tables outside, great service and sunshine (if you are lucky:)). What else do you need?

We had lunch at Loch Fyne in Ascot yesterday and, whilst the food was very good, the service wasn't. We ordered bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar as our starter (as per the menu, we hadn't asked for anything unusual), however, we were given bread and butter! When we asked if we could have some olive oil and balsamic vinegar it was brought without any problem but also without any comment/apology that we hadn't originally been given what we ordered.
For our main courses we both ordered surf and turf which, according to the menu, came with bearnaise sauce. Except it didn't! Again we had to ask to be given our sauce AND had to specifically request steak knives! I have never ordered a steak in a restaurant and not automatically been given a steak knife. Admittedly the steak was tender but the normal knife was not getting through it easily!
Finally, when our plates were cleared and the waitress leant across me to take away my side plate she tipped all the breadcrumbs from it into my lap. As if that wasn't annoying enough, she made no acknowledgement whatsoever of what she'd done, let alone apologised to me!
All round not a great impression on our first visit to what I thought was quite an upmarket restaurant.
