The ViewLondon Review
!ounge is a tiny coffee/beer bar located a good way up Atlantic Road.It is one of those places which, upon entry, defies any traditional labelling. On the one hand it is a simple café, knocking out tea, coffee and sandwiches to a young crowd. Yet on the other it is a tiny bar vending a large array of bottled beers to those in the know - and if that wasn’t enough the presence of two computers with internet access provide yet another variable.
In much the same way, this chameleon-like spot throws together a bizarre range of furnishings to create an almost impossible to define mish-mash of colour and style. Chrome, neon, leather all sit next to each other in a mix which requires at least two cups of coffee to accept.
This is not to say that the result is an unpleasant one. On the contrary, you feel at home amongst the bric-a-brac and relaxation is an actual possibility (unlike so many other places, where the sterility of the entire affair makes me frighteningly uncomfortable). The staff mingle freely with the customers (most of whom they seem to know) and cheap prices rule out any upsetting bar bill.
The one problem is space, with the current capacity standing at a tiny 55. However, two months hence a patio area will open and a late license will become available allowing at least a small extension and expansion process to begin.
