Great food and very friendly service. It's a shame that everyone goes to the Bengal Clipper, because BC is not nearly as tasty and a bit more expensive. Walk the extra fifty feet to find this gem!

Excellent value for money, excellent food and excellent customer service! I visited Lovage for the first time on Saturday night and it was brilliant! I live in the area but I didn't realise it was there, I happened across it and was tempted in after viewing the outside menu. From the min we walked in we were treated like VIP's, our coats were taken, we were shown to the lounge area and our drinks order was immediately taken. it was busy but the lounge area is very comfortable we almost forgot we were there for dinner and not just drinks. I cannot fault the staff in there at all, they are absolute pros and seem to really take pride in their jobs. As for the food - WOW!! absolutely delicious and stunningly presented! The best thing of all was the bill! for such a stunning contemporary Indian restaurant with great service and delicious food we were expecting it to be rather pricey but at just over £50 including drinks for 2 of us we were both very very impressed! To top it off we were walked to the door and sent on our way with a cheery smile and wave.

Brilliant restaurant.

The decor and ambiance is brilliant and so too is the service. The pre-theatre meal was delicious and great value for money.

I would recommend this to everyone.

Best Indian food in the neighbourhood. Their signature starter of mixed tandoori grills was excellent - salmon was tender, not overcooked, and the sauce was just right, not overpowering. Mains read like a standard menu, but were done to excellent spec. A little off the beaten path, but good for the locals.

I love Lovage! I am genuinely shocked that Lovage gets anything but excellent reviews. I cannot understand it. I live in the area and use this restaurant for both takeaways and eating in. The food is consistently excellent and, when eating in, is beautifully presented. The service is friendly and efficient and the overall value is just fantastic. I don't usually post reviews, but I really wouldn't want anyone to be put off going here by some of the inexplicably negative reviews here.

Seriously, see for yourself. I don't know whether some of the negative reviews might be coming from 'fans', shall we say, of the Bengal Clipper, which is literally just down the road. To be fair, I also like the Bengal Clipper - but if you want my two cents, both food and service are significantly better at Lovage. So there you go.

Fantastic place to be... more than average of yourr usual Indian restaurant. It got to the point where we were looking for a speck of dust anywhere.

The place is so clean, atmosphere is brilliant, the staff make an effort to look after you.

As for the food, you cannot fault it. Price - reasonable for where its situated, so close to top restaurants this is definately worth a vist.

GREAT DECOR, POOR SERVICE AND FOODIf there was a option for zero stars, this restaurant would definitely get it.I went to this restaurant for valentines day and was expecting a lot better. The website and decor is great but dont let that fool you.

Everything we waited for, be that getting a seat, even though the place was quite, the menu, drinks, the meals, even the bill. The service was very poor they were just not organized, we must have been served by at least 5 different waiters and that is after we prompted them to come over.

There was a set menu on the day and you would think that everything would come out very quickly, but it didn't we waited at least 15 minutes between courses and when the starters and mains eventually came out they were cold, seemed like they had been sitting in the kitchen for ages. Dont waste your money and go here, service and food very POOR.

Please dont listen to the first reviewer as I almost did. This place is great! The decor provides a great atmosphere, the food is fantastic, tasty, extremely well presented, and good value for money at around £8-10 for a main. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

I am so disappointed with Lovage. Had been working late last night and so couldn't be bothered to cook so when I saw that Lovage had finally opened I decided to pick up takeaway from there rather than the Bengal Clipper on Shad Thames where I usually go.

The service was a bit disorganised when I tried to order takeaway but they were smiley and friendly so I didn't mind. I ordered a lamb shish and a chicken tikka which cost the same as the Begal Clipper (£12) and was surprised when it arrived in just ten minutes - half the time it takes at Bengal Clipper. When I got the order home though I understood why.

The lamb shish was cut into three pieces and was the size of one of the two shish kebabs I usually get from Bengal Clipper for the same price. Not only that, it wasn't cooked through and smelt as though it was off. I put the pieces under the grill to cook it through but even when it was properly cooked it still smelt strange and when I took a bite it tasted off so I threw it away rather than risk food poisoning. Which left me with just four small pieces of chicken (no exaggeration) that can only be described as bite sized. The worst value for money and quality I have ever seen although at least the chicken was properly cooked and didn't taste off.

I am so disappointed. When I was waiting for my takeaway a couple left the restaurant saying to the staff how nice the food was so maybe it's just the takeaway? Shame as I would happily have been a regular there rather than the Bengal Clipper as it's a bit closer to my house but from now on I'm sticking to the Clipper which has always been consistently good even though the decor is better at Lovage.

i have been to lovage and enjoyed the evening and the food
it is good value for money compare to other places in the area
i couldn't help noticing the first review talking more about the bengal clipper and how good they are, it makes me think the guy actuall works for them
truly, its meant to be a review about lovage and we ended up having a great talk about the clipper

I can assure you that I don't work for any restaurant let alone Bengal Clipper. The only reason I mentioned it is because the food has always been consistently good and I was so disappointed when I tried an alternative. The reason I posted a review is to see if anyone could reassure me that it was a one off. What's the point when there's a good Indian restaurant down the road in giving another restaurant a chance again if it's only going to be thrown away and/or leave me hungry again? That said, I always try and give new restaurants a chance and as I said they were very friendly it was just the food that was a let down and it's nearer to my house of the two (a consideration when you're having to collect takeaway often in the rain!).

It was so bad that I even advised my housemate from ordering from there the other night so it would be good to hear if the food was good, bad or indifferent for other locals.

The resturant is in fact one of the best resturants i have been too with regards to service, friendlyness, cleanliness, the staff pretty much fall over themselves to do anything for you, the bar serves the most fantastic cocktails and you can be sure of a fantastic conversation with the bar tender if you want, an avarge meal for take away takes between 10-15 minutes to come depending on the size of the order and how busy the kitchen is, maximum waiting time for normal takeaways would be 30 mins.

If you are dining in the main resturant part is upstairs although you can choose to sit at the well presented bar until your food is ready at which point a waiter will take you to your table. The food is one of the best indian cuisine i have tasted, especially if you like tandoori food, the curries, rice and other meals are served in consistent sizes however if you feel it is too small then ask one of the helpfull staff.

I should imagine that the "bad" quality food was just a one off as i have only ever had the best quality meals served with pure dedication from all the staff. I would ask you to try it again and make a suggestion to the staff if you feel that maybe an improvement could be done with the food as they will take any information gladly and make any changes neceserry. Try it again and you may be surprised.
