I am so disappointed with Lovage. Had been working late last night and so couldn't be bothered to cook so when I saw that Lovage had finally opened I decided to pick up takeaway from there rather than the Bengal Clipper on Shad Thames where I usually go.

The service was a bit disorganised when I tried to order takeaway but they were smiley and friendly so I didn't mind. I ordered a lamb shish and a chicken tikka which cost the same as the Begal Clipper (£12) and was surprised when it arrived in just ten minutes - half the time it takes at Bengal Clipper. When I got the order home though I understood why.

The lamb shish was cut into three pieces and was the size of one of the two shish kebabs I usually get from Bengal Clipper for the same price. Not only that, it wasn't cooked through and smelt as though it was off. I put the pieces under the grill to cook it through but even when it was properly cooked it still smelt strange and when I took a bite it tasted off so I threw it away rather than risk food poisoning. Which left me with just four small pieces of chicken (no exaggeration) that can only be described as bite sized. The worst value for money and quality I have ever seen although at least the chicken was properly cooked and didn't taste off.

I am so disappointed. When I was waiting for my takeaway a couple left the restaurant saying to the staff how nice the food was so maybe it's just the takeaway? Shame as I would happily have been a regular there rather than the Bengal Clipper as it's a bit closer to my house but from now on I'm sticking to the Clipper which has always been consistently good even though the decor is better at Lovage.

i have been to lovage and enjoyed the evening and the food
it is good value for money compare to other places in the area
i couldn't help noticing the first review talking more about the bengal clipper and how good they are, it makes me think the guy actuall works for them
truly, its meant to be a review about lovage and we ended up having a great talk about the clipper - Report

I can assure you that I don't work for any restaurant let alone Bengal Clipper. The only reason I mentioned it is because the food has always been consistently good and I was so disappointed when I tried an alternative. The reason I posted a review is to see if anyone could reassure me that it was a one off. What's the point when there's a good Indian restaurant down the road in giving another restaurant a chance again if it's only going to be thrown away and/or leave me hungry again? That said, I always try and give new restaurants a chance and as I said they were very friendly it was just the food that was a let down and it's nearer to my house of the two (a consideration when you're having to collect takeaway often in the rain!).

It was so bad that I even advised my housemate from ordering from there the other night so it would be good to hear if the food was good, bad or indifferent for other locals. - Report
