This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. I went there with a group of friends to enjoy a few drinks followed by dinner. If you just want to drink specialty beer, I guess it's the right place to go, as they have a large collection, as overpriced as it is, even by London standards. However, food is utterly inedible. I ordered the mussels, an obvious choice and supposed to be one their best dishes, and more than half were unusable and the other half rubbery and bland. I also had a burger that came in an already grease-disintegrated bun and contained stale lettuce. For dessert, I had the waffle, which was clearly a left-over from another meal, as it was so hard that it was impossible to break into pieces with a knife. We complained at the end of the meal to the manager, who was behind the counter, as there were a few of us clearly unhappy with the food. Without eye contact, he replied with "I'm not about to argue with you over this" and continued to count the cas takings of the day. So we had to leave unable to register our complaint and completely disrespected. A truly unpleasant, and very expensive, experience.
If I could give this restaurant no stars I would. I was part of a group that pre-booked a table wanting to sample what the place is supposedly famous for-the array of beers available and the beer-cooked food on offer. We went through amazing lengths to organize a table there (if they didn't want our custom they could have just said), we were then told the beer menu was not available, i mean there were 25 of us, it's not like it's a small group. When we were there they took so long to get the starters out (even though they knew our choices 2 days in advance) that we were starting to get tipsy from the drinks we were having. The food was nothing special when it did come out, a lot of us ordered the steak and they arrived in a variety of different textures, without telling us. some ordered the burger, the contents of which was not stated on the menu they sent us. The dessert was also variable those who ordered the waffle came either as rock hard-been in the microwave-type feel or soft and nothing special. At the end of it we were slapped with a bill near to £1000 and the fat-cat manager arguing with us as they had forgotten the petit fours that was supposed to be included with the menu, in an appallingly rood manner, which actually matched some of his unfriendly waitresses that served us. For the sheer expense of it all we expected great food and fantastic service but it was far from it. I could go on with this review but I think I've said enough to get an idea of our experience with these people.
A bar for those who like a good range of lagers and beers. There are many on offer, both on tab and bottled. Fruit beers are a particular speciality. Be prepared to pay more than average, - even for London. Definitely worth a visit, good for work groups or a quiet beer with a friend or two.
