The essence of Brasil in the heart of North London, Made in Brasil is full of flavour and style.

The Venue
Made in Brasil has many of the right ingredients for a Brasilian bar and restaurant, most notably a typically Brasilian pride in its country, with a large flag above its plain wooden entrance. Like other bars on the busy Inverness Street opposite Camden Town tube station, the venue suffers from a long and narrow shape, but it has used the space well, with seating at the rear and bar stools lining the front entrance area.

The Atmosphere
Low ceilings and dim lighting make the bar seem a lot cosier and considerably busier at any time of day. During the day and early evenings, Made in Brasil is perfect for relaxing with one of the various cachaca-based drinks available. At night the funky samba and RnB music – on weekends mixed by live DJs – is turned up and the bar awakens its Latin spirit. If there was space enough for a dance floor, there’s no doubt that it would be packed with gyrating bodies entranced by the rhythm. On other nights, the bar relaxes with live acoustic music.

The Food
This menu would not be out of place in downtown Sao Paulo, offering the most traditional of Brasilian dishes, feijoada, a traditional bean stew-like dish served with rice that could satisfy even the most rampant of hungers, for just under £11.00. The steaks are typically tender, succulent cuts of prime beef as well. Full of flavour and served with vegetables or a selection of other side dishes, they truly make you realise just why South American food has really taken off in London.

The Drink
Made in Brasil is a proper Cachacaria (cachaca-house), boasting a wide and varied range of the Brasilian rum-like spirit. The most traditional cachaca drink, a Caipirinha – where a healthy measure of the spirit is mixed with fresh lime, sugar and crushed ice – is the most popular option, but the bar offers a vast array of variations on this theme, including the banana or the staff-recommended chilli-raspberry versions. For the less cachaca-enthused, the bar also offers a limited selection of beers and standard spirits.

The Last Word
Made in Brasil is a must for those looking for some Latin style, or even those who simply want a cocktail and some great food.
