I went to mango room, nice place needs to be refurbished there are jobs that needs to be finished. didnt imagin it would be that big has a nice bar and seperate dining area. staff were friendly service was average not the best we have had food was quite quick, try he duck as a starter beautiful, food was amazing but over priced and small portions for the money you payed. expect to pay about 30pound per head i had the plantain and sweet potato fritter balls for starter main was the jerk chicken with rice and a sticky toffie pudding for desert that was 30 pound. overall i would defrently recomend it to you i say dont judge a book by its cover go and try it.
I used to enjoy the food at Mango Room. However, it's gone downhill. The service is very slow and the waiters forgot that we had ordered drinks and we had to call them twice to remind them.
The last straw for me was when I boked for a group of people I see once a year. I arranged over the phone for the deposit to be credited back into my account. On the day, I asked the Manager not to forget that the deposit should not be deducted from the bill but to be put back to my card. He told me it would take a 3-5 days for it to show up. The service was slow; my friebd had to wait 45 minutes for a strawberry daiquiri and the orders were mixed up. When the bill came, it was written at the bottom 'deposit to be credited to account'.
After a week of the deposit not showing up in my account, I called them 3 times and I was told to give it a week. After 2 weeks, I received a call from the Manager telling me that the deposit was deducted off the bill and there was nothing they could do about it. He was rude and obnoxious. I explained to him that thses were not people I was close to and it would be difficult for me to get my £45 back. His reply was 'Well, they are YOUR friends'. It's been over 3 months now and he no longer returns my calls. I was told that even though they don't have any intention of losing money.
If you do go to Mango Room, make sure you pay by cash and avoid any phone transactions. As for me, NEVER AGAIN! I'd rather make the journey to Carribean Scene in the Docklands.
I went with the family on a Sunday in the early evening so it was relatively empty.
However the service was good, the staff were very helpful and patient with our indecisiveness. She explained parts of the menu very well.
The starters are on the small side but was very nice.
The main meal was very tasty and I felt the portions was a good size, the presentation was great and we left there very full, unfortunately there was no room for desserts.
Overall I thought we made the atmoshere but it was nice to hear some old reggage tunes in the background.
It is very pricey and I feel that they should include a side with the main dish in the price.
However we left there unexpectedly happy, even my brother who is an extremely fussy eater was licking his lips when we left.
The majority of my family gave it 9/10 i gave it 8/10 maybe because i forked out for the whole bill!
I have been to Mango Room with my boyfriend twice now and loved it both times. The food is beautiful, the staff are friendly and the whole atmosphere is warming. Other Caribbean restaurants and take-aways in London need to take a few tips from this place. I am of West Indian origin myself and I think the food at Mango Room is totally up to scratch!
The Mango Room is a very good place to eat and have a wonderful time. I though Mango Room had a friendly atmosphere too and brilliant food.
I have been going to the Mango Room for a few years now. I love this little piece of the caribbean set in Camden - it's cosy and busy and the food is lovely. I must say the portions are rather small and for the price you pay I think the rice should be included as part of the main dish. I also find the starters are very small in size too. I normally have the jerk chicken or pork steak and although my boyfriend loves his mum's curry goat he finds this is the only dish in Mango Room that is not up to scratch (I have also noted this on other reviews on other sites)... However for everything else Id give this venue 7/10. The Mango Room management seriously need to do some PR as not once have I or my friends been there and they have just popped from table to table to say "Hi".
My Husband and I went to the Mango Room for our 1st Wedding Anniversary, and we thought the food and staff were great. We got married in the Caribbean, so we wanted to go to a recomended Restaurant.
What a good recomendation it was too!
Booked table at the Mango Room, staff were rude and impolite if you want service that is value for money don't go here.
Food did not taste West Indian or Caribbean , I am Caribbean and the food tasted horrible. The food was bland and horrible and it really ruined myself and my mother's Mothers Day.
