went to Marco's last friday evening taking advantage of the 25£/head meal deal. We arrived at 9pm and the restaurant was almost empty.

Only 7 dining customers! We were shown to our table and ordered a G&T. The waitress came back with the drinks and we then ordered our food. 5 minutes later and still with a full glass of G&T to drink our starters arrived. The wine followed!

My husband ordered soft roe on toast was surprised with the size of the eggs but ate it. To be honest the dish looked a bit disgusting. Mine was a goat cheese salad, really nothing special...

We asked the waitress out of curiosity which kind of fish the eggs came from and her reply was: not from far away. Chocked i asked her if she could ask the chef and his answer was from the south coast.

this was not my initial question. the rest of the meal was nothing really special. My husband fish and chips was good though and the desserts were average, not what you'd expect from Marco's.

Anyway this was not a cheap affair as we ended up spending 100£ for 2 G&T, 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee. Very expensive and very disappointed. I won't come back again, the quality is rubbish the restaurant has no atmosphere and it is ridiculously overpriced....

Reviewing the food at Marcos is kind of missing the point in my opinion. Ok so he's a famous chef but what you're really booking a table and paying for is glamour especially with this restaurant.

At Marcos it may take a while to get served quickly but personally I find that refreshing in an age of two hour only table bookings. It's nice to relax and enjoy an evening. The fact that Abramovich was at the next table when I visited didn't hurt either. If it's good enough for billionaires, it's good enough for me and my wallet!
