Cheap, cheerful and honest. Does Thai food and traditional British cafe food by day, Thai only in the evenings.

Do do for cheap, cheerful honest grub, and it's a rightly popular place because of it. Some great little touches (they're rolls are always fresh and have a pleasing light crust).

I'm a sucker for places like this, and was sad to see that the previous reviewer only gave three starts, although they wrote quite a positive review.

Apple crumble and custard for £1? Yes please!

Don't go for fancy surroundings. Do go for pleasingly mismatched crockery and the 1970s milk chillier with original "Nice cold ice cold fresh milk" slogan on the side - always makes me smile!

Maries Cafe is a nice enough place. I admit I’m usually quite fussy but I found a couple of things to suit me and the people in there were really helpful.

You could do a lot worse than Maries Cafe for a quick bite to eat.
