Disappointed.
I live locally and I visited this restaurant with my family (4 people) on a Thursday evening. The waiter/waitresses were inattentive and seemed as if they did not want to be there. The starters were OK - simply what you would expect from a Lebanese restaurant, nothing outstanding or exquisite.
The mains were terrible, two of us ordered the chicken with vegetable dish. We asked the waiter if it is a grilled dish, he said it was. We were then served a horrible looking gooey/slimy stew laden with fat. As soon as it arrived we immediately explained that the dish is not what we wanted to the waiter and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was rude and said we would have to pay for it even if we didn't touch it/ or eat it. The stew was clearly pre-prepared and not fresh, seeing as we hadn't even touched it (the waiter had been present throughout), it could easily be taken back. The manager was relentless and extremely rude, he then walked away muttering something in Arabic. The drinks are exteremly expensive, the fresh fruit smoothies are thickened with banana's and taste terrible.Do not order them under any circumstance.
Needless to say, the dish tasted awful as it looked, very bland and fatty, the fat actually solidified onto the forks. We did not remotely enjoy the meal, the time we spent there, we were treated with contempt by the waiting staff.
Our bill came to over £200, (bear in mind there were four people). Service charges are compulsorily added. We were over charged (an extra item was added) and the waiter said there is a computer error. We were glad to be out of place!
Furthermore do not expect the management or staff to be pleasant or grateful for your custom. They are very rude and extremely obnoxious. The success of the 'Maroush' brand has got to their heads - they think they are invincible! But such institutions need to remember - the customer is King, we can place you on the pedestal-if need be knock you off it too. Ste
We had the worst service ever! the staff moved us from our initial table, got the bill wrong 3 times, tried to over charge us for one dish and then blamed the computer for error after telling us we did order the £21 main course (nothing on the menu was that expensive), forgot our coffee. After all of this no "I am sorry". The also over charged the next table too. I asked and one point where our coffee was and the member of staff just walked off.
I short terrible service, attempted to cheat us on the bill and we are never going back and suggest you avoid this place at all costs
Beautiful surroundings, central location, traditional lebanese food, friendly and attentive staff.
One of my favourite places. There is a waterfall inside the restaurant and a fountain with fish - I recommend requesting a table just by the fountain.
I recommend asking for a selection of mezza (houmous, halloumi cheese, babaganoush). Their signature "Maroush Salad" is to die for.
As for the main courses, they do take a long time to prepare, but it's well worth the wait.
Maroush Gardens is a nice restaurant with good food, I like to go to places where I feel I've had a "proper" meal in "proper" surroundings and Maroush does that.
