Great food, great service and adoring atmosphere. Ate here as a group, was seated reasonably quickly. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. Food came reasonably fast and of great standard. Will definitely come here again, great discount with the Viewcard! Completely worth the money.

I love the curry from Masala Zone as the amount is right for me and food is tasty. It is a good place for friends visiting there together and chatting over the food. Only critic I have is that poppadom comes half the size only and it is a bit miser (because it is not an expensive item at all if you look at the price of uncooked ones in the store like tesco or somerfield) and waiters are so busy that it is not easy to catch them if you want to order another glass of drink/side orders/etc.... Still, the food is lovely, waiters are friendly and the price is right. It is definitely worth visiting and I will be back again.

Consistently good. enjoyed the bhel puri street food, the rogan josh grand thali with the daily changing vegetables, and the creamy kulfi - their Indian icecream. Friendly service;. I also liked the cool art on the wall- tribal are.
Good value to. it cost me £20 for a 3 course meal and wine

This is very much an average indian when it comes to food and service.

The waiters were not on the ball and it seems like they dont understand the menu and couldnt help me out or explain when i was trying to select something different.

Its a very commercial place as Masala Zone is like Mcdonalds of curry houses. Well the plus side is the atmosphere is nice and seating comfy food is strictly average.

We went to Mazala Zone in Soho on 5th April for dinner. The waiter served us couldn’t explain the menu. Eventually he managed to take the order after 20 minutes.

This is not the waiter’s fault; he has not been trained well. The popadoms took 35 minutes to arrive after reminding the waiter.

There was only one mild meat dish which was not “every one’s cup of tea”. We ordered Pav Bhaji which came without a slice of lemon.

When we asked the friendly and helpful manager for a slice of lemon we were told that the owners like it to be served without the slice of lemon.

Obviously when they travelled to India for tasting the food (as they say), they didn’t taste Pav Bhaji. You need to have lemon in pav bhaji. The butter chicken was not all that. To top it all off their faluda was disgusting. It looked and tasted like a bowl of sick.Meera

I was introduced to Masala Zone by a colleague from Mumbai who said it was his favourite place in London. While definitely good and indisputably cheap, the naan is too doughy and some of the dishes taste a bit bland. I found little difference between their chicken tikka masala and their butter chicken, though I really enjoy their chicken madras. I go back every once in a while as it's close to work, but the quality keeps me from ranking it as a favourite.

Masala Zone is my favourite place for casual dining. It reminded me of many months staying in India and eating in friends homes. The thalis (composite meal) are not only balanced eating but also delicious. The tanginess of the street food is seductive. Great staff, and good vibes all round. Keep it up, Masala Zone.

I ate at Masala Zone last night with a large group - all of whom were fairly dissatisfied with the food. The service was fairly slapdash - for instance we asked for a selection of vegetarian starters and got chicken samosas - but it was the food which really let the place down.

The main courses at Masala Zone were particularly poor; nothing tasted especially fresh or spicy and the so-called 'Grand Thali' was absolutely pathetic. Tiny bowls of tastless lukewarm goo - including something which looked like paneer but turned out to be balls of flour, how delicious!

I definitely wouldn't go back - a regular local Indian will give you far better value and a less rushed atmosphere than Masala Zone, or for a more upmarket experience somwhere like Cafe Spice Namaste over in Aldgate will give you something really special for your money.

I dined at the Masala Zone in Islington in July 2004 and still haven't worked up the courage to go back. After having lived for nearly two years outside the UK, in a country that is not known for its spicy food, I feared that my tolerance for peppers and spice might have been temporarily compromised, so when I ordered my Thali, I made certain to select a curry that was described in the menu, in the restaurant's own words, as mild and creamy. What I ate was, instead, so intensely spicy that perspiration streamed down my forehead and water poured out of my eyes. My mouth was in physical pain, and I had to order three yoghurt lassis just to soothe my stomach enough that my meal didn't come back up. I wouldn't claim to be an expert in curries but I have been enjoying Indian cuisine for nearly 15 years now. I adore spicy food and I think I've come to have a reasonably accurate idea of what to expect, based on the descriptions provided in the menu. I'm not sure, then, whether my horrendous experience at Masala Zone was simply a quirk of bad fate or some mean trick played by the cook, but in any case, I don't intend to try my luck there again for a good, long while. I don't recommend it to anyone over 65, or with a heart condition, stomach sufferings, liver concerns, or to young children, or women who might be pregnant. Perfect for steel-bellied billy goats!

I've been back to Masala Zone and they've changed their trendy and misguided "no Indian staff" rule. As a result, the service is now very good. Still full of Nathan Barleys and Traceys after about 7.30pm but get there for an early or lunchtime and it's just about perfect.

The food is nice but this is one of only 2 places that I have ever had to tell the waitress to remove the service charge because she (an Eastern European because this place, for some stupid trendy marketing reason, employs almost no Indians) was so rude throughout our meal. Very loud as well, as it's always full of hen nights screaming their heads off. Shame.

I and my 4 friends were very disappointed with our meal. The place smelt great but the food did not live up to the expectation. Staff were helpful but there was little for my friend to eat as their meat is not halal. having the 'punjabi MC' song on repeat also proved highly annoying.

Masala Zone happens to be one of my favourite venues in town. Always cheerful and always serving good food, it's the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Well recommended.
