In Maze, if you show up off the street, you pay £25 / person, vs. £48 / person through Travelzoo. Don't tell me that the complimentary welcome cocktail is worth £23. Stuffy atmosphere, with about 4 different people waiting on you. Great wine selection, with a sky-high margin ($20 bottle of Cali Zinfandel sold for £53). Presentation of food - excellent. The food quality was marginal -- Typical Hell's Kitchen deal (make 200 copies of the same dish on a Charlie Chaplin assembly line and server as fast as possible). The best thing was the pork belly (actually, it was perfect, complimented by apple foam). Pea soup - good. Very refreshing with a tiny hint of herb I cannot identify (not mint) and a faint hint of star anise in the background. Duck breast - ok, but tough to cut through with your knife. Beetroot puree was ok, if you like beetroot. But what the hell was that weird endive-like looking vegetable at the bottom of the dish? It was so acrid and sour that it made my mouth pucker for the rest of the night. Salmon with shrimp dressing - very rare on the inside, almost instantly sending my party to the restroom. Chicken gelatin with foie gras - not bad, just the foie gras probably never heard of a duck or a goose before, because it was so damn bland! Hazelnut parfait was great (even though it was not a parfait, but rather hazelnut gelato -- no fruit, gelatin and other parfait ingredients were present), if only some madman didn't ruin it by topping it off with a blob of cherry sorbet so sour that even a dog would stop barking after it. One of the snooty waiters (with French accent) asked - is this your first time at Maze? To which I replied in pure Castilliano: "esta es mi primera vez (y la ultima vez tambien) en este restaurante". I got a puzzled look back.

I just cancelled my reservation at Maze. I am sick of tiny portions at good restaurants.
I think that owners are laughing their socks off at our stupidity.
I always have a wonderful time in maze. I have been there three times (my birthday dinner, my fiance's birthday dinner and lunch with my mom) and maze never fail to meet your expectation in terms of food and service. Dinner was beautifully decorated and the taste is just spot on. Lunch was nice although I found a bit odd to eat half-cooked risotto which is the way it cooked at maze according to the people working there. But the way the people entertain you during the dinner and their attentiveness to the customer's every wish are super and it makes me feel that we shall be back again. I definitely recommend and it is surely worth visiting.
We were at maze on saturday 2nd of oktober. It is a trendy place that is vibrant. We all ordered THE chefs special. 3 out of The 7 courses were great, but THE others lacked a special touch and dissapointing. A group that hired The chefs room made à horrible noise, singing abba songs and walking in and out on bare feet, shouting. Not the ambiance you would expect at à restaurant like this. In The end there was à mistake in our Bill. Staff was friendly.

The food is excellent. The portions are smll, but after 4 or 5 choices you will be satisfied. Deserts are top notch.
Very nice indeed. Looks great, smells great, service second to none and food is sublime. The only thing letting this place down is the booths with two tables in them. When another couple sat next to us I felt as though it was a double date! Otherwise a fanastic experience.

As a restaurateur myself, and after a lot of 'research', I have concluded that Maze is my favourite restaurant, not just in London but in the world. Yes, it's that good! I literally cannot fault a thing in the four times I have been. We always go for the tasting menu, 7 courses. The skill that goes into these dishes is just unbelievable, and you just savour each mouthful. You don't want big plates of food, there are 7 courses for goodness sake! By the end you are so pleasantly full, but not in that 'stuffed to the brim/can't walk home' way you can be after a massive main meal. Each course is a taste sensation! The service is unbelievable, and very hard work i imagine serving 7 courses. The cocktails are spectacular - try the fig sours. My favourite dishes were the Squash velloute with corn puree and the 'peanut butter and jam sandwich' which we actually ordered another one of because my partner was so jealous! Last time we went we saw Ramsay himself, talking to the table next to us. And we were invited for a tour of the kitchen when it was revealed I was a chef myself. As for the lady who reviewed here saying her 'lamb was too raw' - if you want rubbery,over-cooked lamb I suggest you don't go to a michelen star restaurant!
I visited the restaurant on the 26th of July along with my partner.
The restaurant is pretty, the service is excellent but the food was not impressive...
The portions are just enough to get the idea of each dish and were enough for me and my partner. They are well presented, but unfortunately it seemed like the chef's need to impress took over it all.
We had the Chef's menu 7 courses option.
I had the Chilled pea veloute with goat's curd, elderflower and parmesan parfait which is pea soup with a teaspoon of goat cheese at the bottom, with a small roll of sweet parmesan ice cream. The dish was too salty and tasted like it had too much leek in it, although it was not described on the title.
For the second course I had the Marinated beetroot, Sairass cheese, pine nuts and Cabernet Sauvignon dressing - beautifully presented cheese nestled between thin layers of beetroot. I personally don't like beetroot but the combination of the cheese, roasted pine nuts and the vegetable was amazing.
For third I had the Assiete of Sandwiches BLT - awful dish! A jelly of smoked bacon which takes over all other flavours. Wrong texture and flavor.
My partner had the slow cooked quail & marinated foie gras - the texture of the foie gras wasn't right - too creamy and sickening.
The forth was the Cornish red mullet, rice in sardine and saffron stock, roasted pepper puree and paella air - the fish was good and tasted fantastic with the red peppers and black olives (not original but at that point it was very refreshing). Now the paella was something else - a Spanish person would be insulted. It is a tiny portion of rice topped with raw whisked egg whites - it was tasteless and just wrong!
For fifth I had the slow poached lamb - to me it was a bit too raw, but my partner loved it. The stock was fantastic and so as the mint hollandaise. The potato mash was creamy and rich.
Overall - a nice experience, but the food was disappointing. Will not go back - no value for money.
