My bf and me went to Melati yesterday after having heard that this was the best restaurant for Malaysian food.
We ordered a variety of dishes:
Lamb skewers with peanut sauce, Fried baby squid, Noodles in seafood soup and a dish that contained coconut rice with a variety of things (vegetables, prawns, peanuts and fried fish).
All of them were very tasty.
The noodle soup was generously filled with seafood and vegetables.
(However some of the noodles stuck together in clumps)
The coconut rice sadly wasn't as coconutty as I expected, but still okay and the various things accompanying the rice were great.
The service was very friendly. =)
All in all a very nice restaurant!
As I didn't have Malaysian before I can't say if this was the best.
For some people most dishes might be a bit too heavy as lots of them are fried or come with peanut sauce.

great food great service great dining experience. food was fantastic, original and authentic. as good as you get in Malaysia. we had egg with tofu, lamb goreng with sambal and mee hoon goreng and a compliment sambal belacan. the sambal belacan really blew us away. two days later we were there again. we were too early but didn't mind bracing the cold light snowy rain waiting for the restaurant to open 15 mins later.

possibly the best malaysian food in london at par with the food at the canteen of malaysian hall, bayswater.

Be prepared for one of the best Malaysian restaurants in London. Fantastic staff, authentic dishes! Char Kuey Teow? Belachan Spicy is unbeatable. Avail to no disappointment, I would love to come back every weekend and have a decent dinner here.

Like most of the Asian places I eat at, I have no idea where half the dishes that Melati service come from - Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand - your guess is as good as mine. Still, everything I've ever eaten at Melati was finger lickin' tasty - so who cares where it comes from?
