Very poor.
Shop food same as in famous Russian shop in Bayswater, yet more expinsive and less fresh. Nice packaging but exactly same. Better choice in other Russian shops also.
When I went ther, staff were unhelpful, grumpy and bored, very Soviet service.
So called deli food tasted that it had sitting ther for days, no presentation, and microwaved by staff. Cook must be very unprofesional, home cooking. Much better food in Russian cafe in Bayswater or Armenian restorant near Bayswater.
Not good.
Was there a couple of weeks ago. The food wasn't bad (fresh and nicely presented), but didn't like the ambiance. It was lunch time and except us, there was nobody. The stuff wasn't really polite and a bit grumpy. Doubt I will go back.
i have been there twice already and i will be back again for sure :) the shop is amazing and the stuff is very helpful..i got there yesterday after 8 p.m thinking that they were open till 9 p.m...but the girl who worked there was so nice to open the door and let me in to buy some groceries even though she had closed the till and was ready to go home already ( big thank you to her!)

I've seen them in Daily telegraph and couldn't believe that there is a russian food shop in my area. Finally I don't need to go to bayswater for my favourites!! It was quite difficult to find them though, there is no russian sign outside and it looks like a random deli shop.
The food is fantastic! Just like my mom cooks. I miss it so much ever since I've moved to London. The best part is .. they are doing catering. Gonna use them for my birthday party
well-located, well-designed and a welcome addition to regional sourcing. the canapes are delicious and there's a great sense of place and authenticity. already feels part of the establishment of polycultural london. amazing it has not happened before.
Well today I got to Beauchamp Place and popped into The Merchant's Yard to see it all for myself - What a convivial, welcoming and happy environment - I picked a quick snack lunch from a selection of fresh salads at the deli counter - a light and tasty Russian Salad - nothing like the ones we find here! and a super beetroot and berry salad alongside the chicken and red onion dish.
Ina, who served me was bubbling with information about the products lining the shelves. As a non-Russian it was encouraging to be told HOW to create particular Russian dishes at home, when you buy products form the store while you are there...Works really well.
People were also sitting downstairs at a long table, where a tasting was happening and menus were being planned for dinners and catering functions around town.
There is a lot going on here, and their services are a hidden talent I guess, for the community of Russians in London - here's an example of "the tail wagging the dog"!!
Best to you all at The Merchant's Yard - Russia has come over well.
Really disappointing.
Read about opening of this deli, advertising itself as selling russian delicatesses, but on frequenting, it turned out to be nothing more than a pretty russian shop. Everything they sell is the same as all the other russian shops in London, and there I was thinking that they would somehow be on the level of the delicatessens in Moscow, selling hard to find, interesting food. Instead, pre baltic mass produced hams etc are being sold along with italian ones. The bread is good, but again, nothing better than the other russian shops, nothing like the freshly baked bead back home. All this and more of the same, trying to be covered up by the fact that its displayed in pretty baskets.
It looks clean and nice, better than other shops in London, but nothing special. The coffee was awful, seliodka pod shuboy was all vegetables, little herring, salad olivier was okay, but not properly done. Tasted fresh, but however much I tried, could not tell that it was done from organic produce like they advertsised. Also, all the pre packaged produce was definately not organic, and also not the best that can be found. Much better organic food at Dalesford Organic, more of a real deli, but not russian though.
It all felt as if some granny is cooking at home, with none of the professionality of the Harrods food hall as an example.
I recommend they go back to the drawing board as this really is a let down.
Really disappointing, once again.
We went there yesterday and the overall impression was very positive. The decor is a cross between modern and traditional Russian and the service was very attentive. We had herring cake (seliodka pod shuboy) and it was fresh and delicious. The tea was served in very pretty Russian style cups and small teapots. After eating we stocked up on some goodies. They have produce not only from Russia but also other Eastern European countries. Some items from the menu and deserts were missing but they said this is their first week and they are working on a lot of things. And I will be retuning.
