I went to have dinner with my boyfriend at Mestizo last week and had a really amazing time. We decided to start with some margaritas, the waitress suggested trying something different from the lime ones so we went for a tamarind and watermelon. They were delicious!! Since we wanted to try a little bit of lots of stuff, we decided that the best way to go was the taco tray. We went for the carnitas, chicken tinga, pabellon and cochinita. It was so good and fun to eat! I am Mexican but my boyfriend is British so it was very funny to watch him prepare his own tacos :) In general, I would totally recommend this place as the staff is very friendly and the food very authentic. I´m so glad to finally have found a true Mexican place in London. We’re definitely going back!

I've eaten at Mestizo a number of times and whilst the food is good, the same cannot be said for the service. The waiters and waitresses are the most surly bunch of people I've had the misfortune to encounter. I did once complain to the manager- a blonde woman- and she was equally horrid.

Best to go for the lunchtime burrito menu and have it as take out.

The most authentic mexican restaurant in london I have been, no other like this. The same mexican dishes I ate when I when to mexico last year, and the large variety of tequilas make it more than unique! Congratulations for mexico in london.

Food is very close to mexican authentic food but customer service is very bad! We are not going back never again as they are verbally abusive!! Too bad!! Disappointing and disgusting!! Shame cos mexicans in their country are so nice!

We were there just over a week ago and had such a bad time I'm determined not to go back. Our waitress was just awful. She messed up our order and when we told her she'd brought the wrong dish, she started arguing with us about it and went on arguing and saying we had ordered wrongly. Eventually it got sorted out and she brought the right food and then when we said thank you, she started arguing with us again! I mean who argues when someone says thank you?! Unbelievable! It ruined our meal really. I sent an email to Mestizo the next day, but over a week has gone by now and they haven't responded. I'm just really disappointed as we've had no problem there before and the food is great but I'm damned if I'm going to pay good money to be spoken to like that again.

Although the food was lovely, the service here is extremely poor. The waitresses purposely avoided making eye contact so we were unable to order more drinks, their English was poor so we had to repeat our orders several times, and they missed out one dish (although to be fair at least they didn’t then try and charge for it!).

As a result we didn’t pay the full 12.5% ‘discretionary’ service charge, which lead to an ugly confrontation on the street outside. Needless to say we will not be going back, which is a shame as the food was actually very nice.

I think you had the same waitress as us! We won't be going back either, pity as previous experiences were much better.

Great taste, fantastic variety! never expect to get most of the dishes from so many different mexican regions in one place "Mestizo" not to mention that you will be welcome with a smile from a 100% latin staff. My suggestion for those who are planning to visit Mestizo: ask for the "molcajete" you will love it! Congratulations and see you soon again!

A friend of mine told me about this mexican restaurant. She's been in there a couple of times and recommended me to ask for some sort of tacos, and when I was in there I asked to the waiter for those. He brought me a big tray with all kind of fillings and sauces together with corn tortillas to make the tacos, it was very delicious and i was very satisfied. I'd love to go there again with my friends and enjoy very good tacos with them.

We went there a couple of days ago and we were very pleased with the awesome food, marvelous drinks and good service. Despite of we had to stand another customers nearby our table that were bothering us, asking to move away, insulting the staff and not giving respect for others, we could manage it and had a nice evening enjoying every dish we ate. Strongly recommended for the best mexican food in London.

Dont waste your money. Really rude waitress insulted me, aproached me outside the venue when I was smoking, with complete disrespect, saying she was the owner and that she had heard me complaining and saying that "la comida era un mierda" that by the way it was, overpriced and with a very slow and reluctant service and attitude for the clients.

I haven't got enough words to tell you please dont go! There are so many other nice bars and restaurants in town. Had a really horrible time there!

Went here on the spur of the moment in March with some overseas visitors (An Arab and a Czech) with no idea what to expect only to be told we'd have to wait an hour for our table.

However after only 20 minutes we were seated and drooling at the wonderful menu.

Turning to the staff for help, the waitress ended up ordering for us all (The Czech didn't want anything spicy!)

Lo and behold, one of the best meals I've had an ages.

A great selection of food was served, and at reasonable prices, along with great service.

The three of us left full and satisfied with big smiles all round.

I will most certainly go back, though I probably wont trouble my self with a visit to the club afterwards, as it was packed full, and very hot, though i can imagine someone a little younger than me (I am 41) enjoying the atmosphere downstairs, and making a whole evening out of visiting this establishment.

Definately 10 out of 10, even if you don't like spicy food - you only need to ask the waitress's and they are happy to help.

Well done Mestizo, I am not easily pleased, trust me.

Nick, Cheltenham

I went to Mestizo with my family and friends to celebrate my graduation around a delicious meal of Pollo con mole (chocolate chicken), quesadillas, tortillas and guacamole. As a Mexican living in London, Mestizo really reminds me of my home cuisine. Everything is freshly cooked, the staff are really helpful and if you want to have some partying, the dance place downstairs is great! It's the best place in London to try authentic mexican cuisine!
