You can't book a table. You can't put your name in the list and coming back after 30 minutes. You have to wait, likely standing, for 40-50 minutes. So I asked him why can't you reserve part of the tables for booking. The answer was: "because we don't need it". You don't but we (customers) do. The staff seems to be composed mainly by arrogant kids, food is overpriced, ambient noisy. Your call.
Went their by mistake, would never go vegetarian, but actually the food was very good. The green tea has obviously been prepared with tap water or something else was wrong with it.
Really bad experience, very rude waitress, no Gluten free meals really, only 1 salad and 1 curry - the whole point of going there.
Mildreds was busy as usual, but by chance our party of three got seated very quickly. Mildreds layout is very narrow but deep - always expect to be squeezed in next to other diners. The feel is that of a very trendy cafe. I have been to Mildreds a few times over the years and I have to say service has vastly improved. Our food came in record time and I was mightily impressed as they are usually rather too busy to smile. The menu has changed but still offers the lentil burger (with mozarella) and chips which sounds pretty basic but is absoloute comfort food. Mildreds do indeed serve the best chips in the world (with garlic mayo). The portion was large and I couldn't finish my meal, but it went over to my friend who'd only had a starter salad as her main. The house red was lovely (very soft) if a bit pricey, but hey, this is organic wine! For desert I opted for the crumble and realised I'd made a huge mistake - this crumble though a generous serving is way too healthy to be what I was looking for - oatey and more crumble than fruit. Had the topping been more traditional (flour, margerine, sugar) it would have been fine but even with custard was too dry. I looked at my friends plate and wished I'd got hers. In general service was great and although they were busy we were not rushed out the door! For mains, deserts and a bottle of house red we paid £55.00 which is a bargain considering the quality of the food (and the fact that we were stuffed!)
1st nice day of the year, my wife and I wandered to Mildreds to find a queue, was told about a 40 min wait. Sat outside with a bottle of Rose, 25 mins later, table available.
Decor is basic, service is efficient rather than friendly. However, food and value for money is excellent.
Starters, Pan fried tomatoes, with wilted spinach and Houlami & Polenta stack with veggies, both excellent
Mains, Veggie Mexican Wrap & Fennel Cous Cous with fruity tangine, both good but not great
Desserts, Fruit Crumble with vegan custard & White Choc & Pistachio cheescake (TO DIE FOR!!)
Under £70.
Would highly reccommend!!
